I wonder how much of this is going on with the TV networks as well??

This is about the most un-American stuff I've ever heard. I'm genuinely sad.

Leaked Documents Outline DHS’s Plans to Police Disinformation

THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY is quietly broadening its efforts to curb speech it considers dangerous, an investigation by The Intercept has found. Years of internal DHS memos, emails, and documents — obtained via leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, as well as public documents — illustrate an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms.

Behind closed doors, and through pressure on private platforms, the U.S. government has used its power to try to shape online discourse. According to meeting minutes and other records appended to a lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Republican who is also running for Senate, discussions have ranged from the scale and scope of government intervention in online discourse to the mechanics of streamlining takedown requests for false or intentionally misleading information.

“Platforms have got to get comfortable with gov’t. It’s really interesting how hesitant they remain,” Microsoft executive Matt Masterson, a former DHS official, texted Jen Easterly, a DHS director, in February.

There is also a formalized process for government officials to directly flag content on Facebook or Instagram and request that it be throttled or suppressed through a special Facebook portal that requires a government or law enforcement email to use. At the time of writing, the “content request system” at facebook.com/xtakedowns/login is still live. DHS and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, did not respond to a request for comment. The FBI declined to comment.

Prior to the 2020 election, tech companies including Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, Wikipedia, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Verizon Media met on a monthly basis with the FBI, CISA, and other government representatives. According to NBC News, the meetings were part of an initiative, still ongoing, between the private sector and government to discuss how firms would handle misinformation during the election.

I've been saying this for years. The primary aim of social media is not profit-based, but rather to create and control political narratives for the ruling class.

If I vocalized what ought to happen to many members of our ruling class, I’d likely be sent to the gulags.

This is why I just laugh at any Prog that says Trump was an "authoritarian". He was the worst authoritarian in the history of the world.

Leftists can't win on ideas, so they always go full fascist, then project their tendencies unto their enemies.

Most of us knew this was occurring, even the left wingers. They just didn't care because it generally benefited them which is why they are pitching an absolute bitch fit over Musk taking over Twitter. It's glorious

They aren’t worried about misinformation. They are worried about people waking up and seeing the BS for themselves

So liberals are the ones advocating for censoring free speech and barring books.

Is this the party switch I kept hearing about?

The resident leftists will say Facebook and Twitter is a private company and 1A doesn’t protect that.

I never would have had on my crazy bingo card that liberals became the bastion of censorship and wanting to do away with free speech.

Facebook was literally founded by the CIA

There is this conspiracy meme picture that there was like "Operation: ____" with the goal of gathering information on civilians and steering and controlling narratives on social issues online.

The program was disbanded something like February 2003, and in March 2003 Facebook was founded.

@tgrgrd00 you run liberalhivemind youtube?

absolutely love the channel and the plenty of daily videos.

so the facebook link in the article is still up. i tried requesting service with my personal email but obviously it said,
quote:

The email address provided is not an obboarded partner email address. Please try again with a valid email address.

I tried random names with email addresses from obvious liberal hack domains such as @DHS.gov, @fbi.gov, @washpost.com but they all came back the same. I wonder if the system has each and every persons actual email address that is able to login instead of just letting anyone from the domain login

Some of the more egregious highlights from the meeting minutes document (other quotes not discussed in this post are also highlighted):

quote:

The office established the charter of foreign malign information (FMI), which is sibversive data utilized to drive a wedge between the populace and the government.

Creating more fed "for our safety" basically. An excuse used time and time again throughout the ages. Patriot Act all over again. Deja vu.

quote:

[REDACTED] further asked if there were adequate laws in place around MDM related to elections in order for the FBI to pursue misinformation

Basically asking if they can legally pursue anyone they deem to be sharing what falsely believe to be "misinformation" as retarded-ly defined by themselves. At least this is what it appears as to myself.

quote:

...There was discussion between team members related to organizational infoirmation sharing between private/public sector;how to collaborate across channelsl driving resiliency building and education about MDM...

quote:

What is the governments strategic approach related to MDM?

quote:

She stated that wer need a media infrastructure that is held accountable; we need to early educate the populace; and that today, critical thinking seems to be a problem currently.

"We need to 'early educate the populace'" - That is absolutely frightening.

"critical thinking seems to be a problem currently" - how f*****g ironic huh

Then it just got worse and worse,

quote:

[REDACTED] mentioned, "How do we get to push the envelope to obtain traction in this area? Who has done appropriate social media monitoring for the government?"

I wish we had copies of all minutes from every single meeting behind closed doors. Then again it may frighten me to actual death to know all of that but it's one i'd gladly take for the team.
