What else am I missing?
Why does every house look the same?
Posted on 10/31/22 at 8:36 am to stout
The same reason houses from every era look the same.
This is the current style.

Everything gray and white. EVERYTHING.
I like a house with warm tones and color. Let them paint it when we sell.

Great floors, lots of grey floors, everywhere!

Was watching HGtv last night and the people redoing the house decided to go with white paint on the bricks and black trim. They pitched it as if they were making some dramatic design decision. LoL.

The people buying 1x2s and nailing them to the wall in ugly patterns then posting it to social media like they are Picasso is crazy. It's the ugliest current design trend. Do some classic Judges paneling or wainscotting instead IMO

I rage a little bit when I see a beautiful brick house painted white. That shite hurts my heart.

When you add all of the new daylight LEDS on top of the white and grey in kitchens it feels like you are in an operating room.

Same here

all OPEN CONCEPT!!!! NO WALLS!!!!
Cause that's the modern homeowners dream right??? A kicthen, living room, dining room combo.... rushing water when someone using the sink right behind you as your watching TV... conversations in the dining room draining out people in the living room...all walls must go!!!

I saw a show with a house made partially of natural stone.
And they painted it white.
Made me want to barf.

It's a trend, and it looks pretty decent, design wise. I am a fan of the white, grays and beige neutral colors.
In 10 years there will be another trend that we will be a fan of as well. So, does it really matter?

The subdivision I lived in as a child was built starting in the late 60s, and every house (there are hundreds) is a ranch with a low pitched roof and 8-foot popcorn ceilings. The original interiors, which have mostly been replaced now, used 1970s fads like green or orange shag carpets, and appliances in colors like Harvest Gold and that avocado green from the 70s.
Driving through that subdivision today, every house screams “1973!”
So what you’re describing is nothing new.

All the farmhouse stuff will be out of style soon, but I'm a fan of the neutral/white walls with contrasting accents. It makes a room feel bigger and brighter. We painted the living room and kitchen white as soon as we bought our house.
