My kids have trick or treated exactly how I have their entire lives. So have my nieces and nephews and we are all in different neighborhoods. I had no idea anything has changed

Our kids still trick or treat in our neighborhood and others in my dads neighborhood. Of course there is a certain prominent demographic in those areas. Also, out of neighborhood demographics show up en masse and to collect candy in grocery bags while wearing street clothes. They get turnt away.

Honest question.

Did you copy and paste this from last year?

I swear I’ve read this exact post before.

Whenever we watch sandlot and the scene with them behind the store, my wife and I look at each other and just say how sad it is that life isn’t so simple and carefree anymore. I’d love for my son to be able to just walk out of the house, get on his bike and ride in town to meet his buddies.

You do realize a lot of those events started because this stopped

Seeing mobs of kids all walking the dark streets at the same time, having nearly all houses in all neighborhoods with their lights on inviting trick or treaters, and being able to look forward to that night every year without having to ask "what night are we allowed to trick or treat this year?"

My old neighborhood averaged 5-6 kids on Halloween mainly because the block would be completely dark from everyone turning off their lights. They started doing that because other kids were getting carpooled in and wrecking havoc.

My kids love the trunk or treat because they get to run around w their school friends. Then we walk the streets with their neighborhood friend on Halloween night. Best of both worlds

We stopped killing pedo’s and now let them live amongst us after getting out. This is why it’s different nowadays

The opposite. Baptist trunk or treats are the reason for the decline. Can’t have the children seeing demonic vampires and interacting with people from outside of church.

Just moved into a new neighborhood that’s been around since the 30s. Easily 50% of the homes are decked out in Halloween decor. We have a BREC park in the neighborhood where Halloween kicks off as a block party, then the kids pile into hayrides and come trick or treating. I can’t wait.

Yeah the neighborhood we just moved into this summer is showing out for Halloween too (it was established in the 70s). Our neighbors already advised us to make plans to be home from work as early as possibly Monday because starting a little after 5 it looks like a zombie movie with all the kids out gathering up for a pre-party and then hitting the streets for TrT. They also told us all the houses that handout treats for the grown folks too

I can’t wait. This will be my first experience with a neighborhood like this.

This is how it was when I grew up. I only now realize as an adult and parent it was mostly just a safe and fun way for the kids to get together while my parents and their friends partied

You think it's old people killing all our traditions? Think that over again.
