Only solution to get him back would be an enclosed bridge from his enclosure to the stadium where he could come and go as he pleases. He would have his own spot in the stands.
-----Just last week I talked to a retired guy who did a lot of construction for LSU in the early 00's. He said LSU asked him about the feasibility of a similar proposal:
Could he build a portable clear chute for Mike to run/walk through on the sidelines before a game? He told them it just wasn't practical, doable.
But I give LSU credit back then for at least thinking of the idea.

Why do you guys care so much about this? You guys have no clue how the real world works. Forcing a tiger into a cage and pissing off the rest of the world is not a smart thing to do. The mascot would just be removed and we’d look like we liked torturing animals.

You really want it that bad?

Y’all need to stop with these threads.

These species are regulated. You think anyone can just decide to have a tiger as a pet? The state and federal wildlife agencies have control.

Not bringing the Tiger out or on to the field was a condition of keeping a tiger habitat on campus at all. If you want a live tiger mascot on campus those are the rules. Not going to change.

You've been on this website for 10+ years, and ostensibly been an LSU fan for longer than that, and you still don't know the answer to this question?

“This is the ONE tradition I wish they would bring back to Tiger stadium. If it's the PETA nutjobs who are forcing LSUs hand and not allowing this to happen, how come they don't raise a stink about all the other live mascots in college football that still take the field?!?! “

Is there any way to Upvote this 1000 times and downvote all the tree huggers?

All you idiots comparing a Bengal Tiger to 2 mutts and livestock are unreal. Do YOU not see the difference between HOW Mike is/was brought into the stadium vs the others!?! Yes - he is a wild animal. . .hence, no one is asking for him to be paraded around on field on a freaking leash. He has a cage. A very nice one at that. Why not use that?!?

I CAN FAKE SCREAM IN CAPITAL LETTERS TOOOOO!!!

If you actually read my comment (reading is difficult I know, take your time), my comment was not based on the cage, my comment was based on the multitudes of people standing in close proximity to said cage screaming, flipping, running, hitting each other, all things that are extremely physically triggering to a highly sensitive senses of hearing, site and smell for a predator that lives on stealth.

You don’t see people walking their tigers on a morning walk.
You also don’t see cowboys lassoing tigers.
There ya go

It is ridiculous the number of slack jawed rubes we’ve got within this fan base. All they care about is whether the band plays neck or whether somebody drags poor Mike around the stadium. They don’t deserve a live tiger for a mascot.

I bet you the vet made the call.

coeds used to dance on his roof.

there was a time when the early mike of that era was just sent out every home game.

then there was a time when next mike got to decide if he would get in.

ask the veterinarian.
its probably posted on the dept site

I agree … it’s completely stupid that he’s not on the field like he has been for decades!!! Mike is treated like a king. There isn’t a thing wrong with putting him in a cage for an hour.

my high school LaGrange l.c. the Gators.

some guy brought a 6 foot gator to a basketball game.
there was no space to the sideline. scared girls trying to get by.
was not allowed again.

didn't Siegfried or Roy get bit by their own trained Tiger?

I read that people in India are killed by tigers on the reg.

Hey boy, I got more degrees from LSU than you do. My jaw is square and I know wtf I’m talking about.

Most of you PETA lovers are Marxists. I don’t care what you say. You cannot rewrite LSU football traditions and pageantry. All you care about is the band not play neck and what college kids do on Saturdays in the fall. There isn’t a damn thing poor about Mike either. Go fly a kite.

Nix, I honestly wasn’t calling you an alter but most of these upvotes and downvotes are from alters and some of these posters are as well.

It’s cool to have him in that enclosure right beside the loud as frick Tiger Walk and let thousands of drunk retards surround his home every Saturday but bringing him inside the stadium is just too far. You’re getting a lot of shite but you’re right. Where they decide to draw the line is very weird and doesn’t really seem to have any sort of reasoning behind it except for flawed emotional BS.

Yeah, that started with Roscoe-Mike VI. He never wanted to get in the cage—even when food was in the cage.

I am convinced that the old Mikes used to enjoy being paraded around the field. That was a nice outing for them.
