It's pharmaceutical grade meth. Period.

See I forgot to take mine that night and ended up passed out in Krystal’s getting tea bagged by an Alabama fan. Never would have happened if I had just railed some addy before the game.

So the OP just needs to decide whether he’d rather be a hammer or a nail.

I personally abused this drug when I was prescribed to it, which is why I had to get off of it. It started with prescribed usage and then I would use it to party too. You can drink more and not get as drunk, but it is doubly dehydrating you.

Even aside from partying, it is a high risk for dependency drug. You will feel euphoric and super efficient, but then after extended use your body will get acclimated and you'll need more.

I could go on and on, but it's nothing like coffee or an energy pill or drink, it's legal meth.

If you aren't prone to addiction, maybe you'll be alright, but I would stay away from it.

Just an observation…I have no opinion either way. But, many of the responses to this thread from people saying they are currently taking adderall and think it’s great are really long and detailed paragraphs.
It’s kind of like they are on speed when they respond.

It makes you focus or it'll make you go on a side tangent on a study of the Spanish Civil War or get into a three hour discussion with your senior citizen neighbor about grass varieties. It's all over.
. It's speed. It's amphetamine. Look into that. That's all it is. Not methametamine.

If it really calls and focuses you, you likely have undiagnosed ADHD. If it speeds you up and makes you want to party. It won't help you focus.

It is legalized meth.

People become strongly addicted to the stuff. Pharmacies are on shortage of the 20 and 30mg tablets and people are having full blown meltdowns.

Not to mention it can raise blood pressure in a population that is already likely overweight

Are you taking it for withdrawals or for other reasons? I don't believe it'll do much for the average, healthy person's brain.

No sir. I was reading up on Alphbrain and some commenters said L-Tyrosine was an alternative to it and helped with memory/focus, etc.

How much stronger is this than ephedra?

Not sure, but my go to was sudafed at one time, when cocaine wasn't around during long party nights.

Just made me more alert, not zoned out.

Harmful side effects ? How about having perpetual sleeping problems, not eating a damn thing for a few days, and constantly drinking alcohol just to slow you down at night? Like the type of crap that will turn you into an alcoholic and have you on sleeping pills for years. You will be the most unhealthy you will ever be on it. There’s an absolute price to pay for things like this. Odds are you will withdraw away from your friends and life and become introverted. Once you start taking it you can’t do anything without it. It becomes a dependence. I won’t even get into the mental issues it causes with long term use. There’s physiological problems too

I have a cousin that this exact thing happened to him. It is a horrible cycle.

When I got off of it after college I felt like a complete slob of a man. I couldn't do anything. It took a solid month to regain normal cognitive ability. It was a rough month.

This describes me, perfectly. I've described it as snowballing. Would start out with a normal small dosage. But, I have so much going on and an already overactive brain, that even a small dosage would cause me to have sleeping issues. The next morning I would be tired. So, I would take more adderall the next day than the previous. Would get to a point that I would drink heavily to sleep at night. Basically, the "rock star" lifestyle. Upper to get moving in the morning. Downer to sleep at night. Literally what killed Michael Jackson. Depends on each person and what you have going on. I really wouldn't recommend any person getting started on it. Makes me angry, irritable. Do I get more done on it? Yes, but it's not worth it.

Haha. I'll take the ostensibly drug-induced posts over, "Dhhuuuurrrr, it's legalized meth!"

I’ll say this, I’m currently prescribed/taking daily and I wish I never started. In the beginning it was great, I was able to take half my prescribed dosage and get all the desired effects like focus/get work done while still maintaining a good diet, sleep pattern, and mood. Now I’m taking full dosage just to get up to baseline, sometimes I take even more. My mood is terrible at the end of the day and if I don’t consume alcohol/take melatonin (sometimes both) I literally can’t sleep. I most definitely drink more since starting, probably by a factor of 2 or 3. So end up starting my day hungover with still bad overall sleep and need an Adderall just to function. It really has turned into a viscous cycle for me and will certainly impact my long-term health if I don’t stop. Luckily, I have a great support system with family/friends that are holding me accountable while trying to get off of it.

This guy hit the nail on the head. When my doctor prescribed it to me his exact words when I asked how i'll know if it is working correctly were "if it something you really need it will slow your thinking down to where you can focus and if you don't need it you will speed on it". The only side effect i've noticed from those listed is the dehydration. No matter how much water I drink it seems as though I pee yellow all the time. If I miss the medicine for a couple of days I can tell a difference in irritability and lack of focus. The one thing I've NEVER had with it is the urge to abuse it.

As someone who easily quit it cold turkey, I really don’t understand comments like this. It’s not like booze or cigarettes that you can buy at any time. If you want to quit, just go fill your prescription for the month and then immediately throw it away. Problem solved. You won’t take it again for a month, and at that point you will be well over it. If you really want to lock it in, call your doctor and tell him not to give it to you anymore. Trust me that you THINK you need it much more than you actually do.

Edit: When I decided to quit so I could get pregnant, I just told my doctor that’s what I was planning to do, so he wouldn’t prescribe it again. Just cut it off if you don’t like it. It’s a controlled substance, so it’s easier than other addictions unless you hang out with lots of people who will give it to you illegally.

My personal experience: My youngest son was diagnosed as being on the spectrum at a young age...we were fortunate to have a renowned pediatric doctor that he saw. He prescribed this medication at about 8-9 years of age..my son attended a private school that required a rigorous academic schedule. He played soccer and ran cross country in addition to 2-4 hours of study after school including most weekends. Without this medication I doubt if he could have progressed. I took some as well to better understand the effects. He was dosing twice a day 15mg..clonidine at night. The day he graduated from high school, I stopped giving it to him...he never complained or requested any.
