Exactly. You thought. Call on the field was a fumble. No definitive evidence to suggest otherwise
Call on the field should have stood. Refs we're inexcusable last night in the second half, esp the 4th

SEC getting like NFL trying to keep audience engaged late for benefit of advertisers.

It’s hard to see but the hand was moving forward and Perkins punched it out before it was released. But the motion is what they look at and the hand was coming forwardJUUUUST before contact.

quote:Are you sure on that? I didn't hear any early whistles. The running back picked the ball up and stood there. Two LSU defenders approached and stood there. I think it was finally blown dead on forward progress. I think Florida lost 5 yards on the play.
What's funny is either the next play or the play after was a backwards screen pass that skipped off the ground and the refs blew it dead. I couldn't believe what I was watching
From the play by play:
2nd & 15 at FLA 32
(1:17 - 4th) Montrell Johnson Jr. run for a loss of 5 yards to the Fla 27
Edit: Can anybody confirm this?

We need officials with no sec team affiliations

The ball never went beyond the throwing line. Even if it was a forward moving arm, it should have been considered a backward pass at worst. That results in turnover.
I cannot believe we have refs that do not know the rules

Text book roughing. he drove him to the ground with all his body weight.

At the game and it looked like a good play and turnover. It was too close to overturn in my opinion.
Perkins was a man possessed last night when we started using him to spy 15.

Between that and the Brian Thomas catch that wasn't, Florida can't complain too much about the roughing the passer. All 3 were BS

So close you’d think you’d have to go with the call on the field.

I watched this game with a friend who is a Bama fan, and he told me he enjoyed watching Harold Perkins more than he enjoyed any part of the Bama game.
He said Perkins looks like the next TM7 in terms of ball instincts as much as he didn’t want to admit it lol
He also said that was definitely a strip.

That really, really pushes the border of fumble vs deflection. I was of the opinion that it's NOT a deflection, until the ball is released ... usually the defender hits the QB and causes the pass to go off target, or weakly.
I don't think I've ever seen this in football, it looks more like something in basketball- a block/strip, where the defender takes the ball, and the shooter continues his motion empty-handed.
And I suppose, the question that applies is this: is that a steal, or a block?
The football translation, I assume, is a "block" is incomplete, and a "steal" is a fumble/turnover.

hey guys--- an indisputable point --did you watch the florida QB and team they thought it was a fumble and so did the florida crowd as they started leaving in mass

And they were both huge calls going against us.

This is what it was. Perk rejected the ball.
Richardson was going for the dunk without the ball.
Live call was fumble. It was a fumble.

This is correct. It is only a forward pass if he releases the ball and we caused a fumble before he could do that. But, hey, we got the roughing the QB call later…
