When did you first realize how short life is?

I just turned 29 and I guess maybe 2 years ago it hit me like a ton of bricks that the life I had known in my late teens and early twenties was basically over and things would never be the same.

I had been working a job on the road with a bunch of other young, single guys so the college atmosphere was kind of "extended" for me in that respect, but I recently "settled down."

The last 5 years or so have really flown by. Don't get me wrong, a lot of great things have happened, I bought a house, have some really nice vehicles, got married last year, and I'm making the most money I ever have by far but sometimes I miss being a carefree 19 year old cruising around in a beat up Z71 with 200k miles on it and barely any money.

This topic has no point, just feeling nostalgic I guess

I can only assume that it gets worse from here.

I see it as three phases (so far, I'm 41):

First Phase: When you stop riding your bike to your friends' houses and start worrying about cars and high school shite. You don't even realize when it happens but when it does your life is never the same.

2nd Phase: You start working and getting married. Basically, where you're at.

3rd Phase: Kids. Just wait if you think it's flying by now. Nothing makes time fly like raising kids.

Not sure, baw, probably due to a lot of different things.

The job change was a major lifestyle change for me obviously, I also gained a nephew (kind of a big deal as I'm from a small family) and lost several family members including my mom over the past two years or so.

I also moved from the South to the Midwest.

It just seems like there a lot of things that feel "permanent" when you're a kid and teen and I'm seeing those things aren't as permanent as they feel.
