No way this place lasts

quote:

NEW ORLEANS — Leaders in New Orleans East are trying to overcome an image of crime, neglect, and a lack of commerce. One local entrepreneur says she never doubted that's where she'd open her new business.
Melika Honore' decided she would deliberately open her latest business in New Orleans East, then waited patiently for the pandemic to end.

quote:

“Look, we have our challenges in New Orleans East, but we don't deserve the stigma, the stereotype, especially when things are happening in New Orleans ‘West,’” said Councilman Oliver Thomas.

quote:

Melika understands the concern about crime and is facing it head on, with police and security every night, even to walk people to their cars.

I think "Upscale" is a stretch by that news outlet. also why did they show a picture of her safe (the actual one not the picture) with a few Gs in it? Weird.

That place still there? It's been years...

Also used to hit up EZ Seafood, located in the laundromat at Chef and Michoud.

No idea if that's there either...

Dee's Xquisite Seafood is worth a drive to the East.

If this place is off Bullard it may do well. I think most people don't realize that there are so many muddle class and upper middle class enclaves in that part of the east. Then you have 2-3 security controlled neighborhoods too. Eastover, Carmel, Bullard estates.

Walkers
Deanie's on Hayne
Peewee Crab Cakes
Dee's seafood
Dong Phoung

All are good places to eat in the east.
The real food desert is Gentilly unless you give them Sammy's. And Munch factory would be good if they put the blackened reddish on bun sandwich back on menu.

Just read article.

Odd that the address wasn't listed exec though they open tomorrow.

Second. Who has a restaurant concept and has realtors being them to come to certain streets?

Any place with 3-4 industrial blade fans mounted on a wall next to a few televisions hanging from the ceiling near a stage in the main dining room is NOT an upscale restaurant. That is a karaoke bar.
