Where do you stand on CFB and NFL officials being told to influence certain games?

IMO, I definitely believe that officials are given directions in some way shape or form for certain games.
I’m not saying the directions are to blatantly allow Team A to beat Team B, but I know that officials are told to keep certain games close.

There's plenty of circumstantial evidence, and we all have prejudices when it comes to calls for or against us when our teams are involved. Unless there's a set of recordings proving that refs intentionally influencing the game is the norm, and those recordings come to light, the status quo persists.

Bro, nobody could keep a secret of that magnitude.
An official might influence a game on his own for any number of reasons.
I don’t believe there is an order from the league office to officials to influence certain games. Too risky.

I think they’re told to be a little looser with the flags in certain games, against certain teams, in certain situations.
I don’t think they’re told to make sure one team wins, I’ve just seen too many questionable flags in critical moments to believe it’s all chance. I firmly believe they’re told to “keep an eye out” for opportunities to throw flags at certain times.

Recently watched Untold: Flagrant Foul on Netflix.
An nba ref exposed how in prep for games, they would be told to watch for/crack down on certain calls. They were also allegedly told to not make calls on the superstars because it was better for the game. Another situation with Allen Iverson, iverson and a ref got into it in a past game, so the entire crew called a carry every single time it was questionable. They were also given direction to call games in playoff series in a way that could extend the series.
This ref was funneling this information on which way to bet on games, and he was caught.
The calls weren’t egregious, he actually graded out as a top 3 nba ref. He was doing as he was told and calling games the way he was instructed.
Take that as you will, but I think there’s certainly influence. There’s too much money involved for there not to be.

2007 the Big East refs did everything they possibly could to get West Virginia into the title game but couldn’t
It definitely happens but I don’t think it’s quite as widespread as some think.

2009 Arkansas Florida was the clearest example I've ever seen. Nothing comes close.

It isn't straight up rigged as in the players and coaches are in on it but I think officials are absolutely given orders to sway the game in favor of one side over the other.

On the one hand it seems impossible that some ref wouldn’t have spilled the beans, with receipts, already.
On the other hand, that’s probably already happened and just gets brushed off as isolated.
Also on the other hand, where there’s money to be made, someone with money will do whatever it takes to make it, and I assume at least some officials are bribable.

My opinion:
-Refs are sometimes biased towards players, such as Tom Brady getting easier roughing the passer calls
-the NFL is not intentionally altering game outcomes via officiating
-the NFL is intentionally altering outcomes holistically via the way they handle suspensions and investigations
-officiating is very often bad and needs an overhaul, but their mistakes are not the product of bias against or for teams

Football is a business, and a big money maker. Just like in the real world, many executives, shareholders and employees are corrupt and will do whatever it takes for a gain.
I see football as being no different.

So much weird shite has happened in the NFL playoffs the last 20 years that i'd be very surprised if the refs weren't told to call extra holding calls or roughing the passer calls (Tom Brady) to influence a certain outcome.

Well the NFL is a billion dollar business.
Just like the NBA, they want L.A. and New England or New York represented. Its not rocket science.

People act like there's no influence because there isn't some internal memorandum or email saying to influence a certain game.
Officials know what the league wants. I know in my job I'm not told what to do but an admin might stop by and say "maybe you should be on the lookout for this today" or "maybe you want to do this if this happens today" or something like that.

The NFL classifies itself as entertainment not strictly sports in court
This is the same as the WWE
The NFL is telling you it is rigged
But some people just arent smart enough to get it I guess
Let me help you out. You are watching a predetermined outcome play out. Instead of rooting for John Cena you are rooting for your NFL team.
