He’s the back up, that’s what they see. If the starter isn’t Joe Burrow than obviously the back up will be

Daniel’s has an obsession with the TE because he’s a big target and his routes are mostly uncontested.
It didn’t workout with Nuss last night because of drop balls but he threw accurate balls to Boutte, Williams, and Nabours.

I understand why Daniel’s is the couches choice for starter with his legs but as the oline starts to improve u have to get these talented WRs the ball early and often. I really don’t care who does it but someone has to start doing it next week.

In our QBs' defense, per Dandy Don this morning the WRs were targeted 25 times and dropped seven of them. A few of those were drive killers and big plays in the making.

While neither of them looked great against a tough Auburn defense, it 's hard for anyone to look good when the WRs are dropping 28% of their throws.

Arm strength is great but if you don't have the brain matter to make the arm strength count, it is a useless talent. Looks good in practice though.

It's just the "What if?" with Nuss.

Nuss has been objectively bad for the majority of his time on the field.

People keep saying they want to see more of Nuss, but what has Nuss done to earn more playing time?

The only time he has looked like a competent QB was New Mexico.

Why do y'all do this to yourselves every year?

Before howard it was nuss will start next yr.

Kelly is going to for sire get the best qb out of the portal. Howard needs to develop and play when he is ready.

Last night was clearly his worst game at LSU. Prior to that he had been unspectacular but solid.

I thought offensive play calling was horrendous. Why do we call such long developing routes when you have a patch job offensive line? I watch many replays to see if he missed guys or reads and I'd age guys simply not out of their cuts or double moves by time Daniels was fixing to get mobbed. When he goes back 3 steps and lets it go on quick routes he's highly effective!! Only good thing about long routes is when he takes off he's got a ways to run and less defenders the first 10 or so yards. More screens, Sean Payton style, more crossing routes, picks, etc. all that leads to tempo too.

If you want to win the SEC West, which goes through Bama, then you need a mobile/athletic QB. This team is still storming and forming, so we need to appreciate all wins as it is tough enough to win divisional games in the SEC West. The running game carried us on the plains this past weekend, which is a great sign of our team finding a way to win by physically imposing their will on an opponent. Just win baby! 4-1 (2-0 SEC) with a gritty win is better than 3-2 (1-1 SEC). All of the team’s goals for the year are still attainable. Geaux Tigers!

This point is lost on the TD masses. Auburn’s QB played far better than JD5 who has started for more than three seasons now. I have seen enough of him to know he’s not getting any better.

We still do not know about Nuss. Maybe it’s time we tried to learn whether he can play.

It's not so much what has Nuss done but more of what Daniels isn't doing. LSU should have beat the hell out of Auburn, they are that bad. Daniels either can't or won't throw the ball down the field or over the middle. There is a reason Mason Taylor had so many targets and catches. The offense is absolutely hamstringed by his QB play. Look at how it is effecting the WR's. They are so dejected by his shitty play they are now playing like shite.

All off season we heard how Daniels and Nuss were 1A and 1B. Yes, Nuss had that disaster of a performance against Southern but it was obvious he was pressing WAY too hard and made some terrible decisions. He then comes out against NM and plays really well (including a nice long ball that was caught). With Daniels' inability to throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field, you need to give Nuss a shot. Even if it's for a series to try and get a spark.

Nuss 100% will throw the ball to his WR's DOWNFIELD. Yeah, he is probably going to throw an INT every once in a while, but as long as it is limited it will be worth it for the production he will get. Look no further than when the camera's panned to Daniels talking to Boutte on the bench. Daniels is in his ear saying who knows what and Boutte couldn't give two shits what he is saying. The way the line is playing this offense could become absolutely dangerous with a QB who is willing to throw the ball down the field to his WRs. WR's start realizing they have someone who will throw them the ball and they'll start focusing more... The ripple effect.

Daniels has thrown way more interceptions over his career than Nuss.

Threw as many TDs as interceptions last year.

Let's look at interception rate then. Daniels has thrown 12 INTS in 805 PAs in his career. 1 INT every 67 Pass Attempts.

Nuss has 4 in 96 career PAs. That's 1 INT per 24 passes thrown.

Nuss is a turnover machine. He's not Jarrett Lee freshman year bad, but he's not much better at this point.

He threw 1 long ball against New Mexico and it was incomplete. The long pass play was caught 4 yards past the LOS and Thomas did the rest. His only deep ball completion (20+ yards) on the year was a 60 yarder to Nabers against Southern.

I agree completely. Need a good QB. Maybe Nuss is. Maybe not, but 3+ years of Daniels tells us enough to know that that dog just won’t hunt. Give Nuss a try.
