Those who choose to completely work remotely will realize how much easier it is to be fired. It’s no longer an employees job market

Cuts both ways.

Easier to hire or fire someone like that, also MUCH easier to not have to spent a ton of rent on expensive office space in NYC. LA, SF, Chicago, etc, which in turn cuts overhead significantly.

Yeah, it's unclear what Burry means by "culprit" here as it relates to WFH.

There's a lot of administrative fat in nearly all companies.

He's right.
Lots of White Collar folks will get the axe.

After their smugness during Rona ...... "Just work from home!!!" I don't feel bad.

Whose smugness? You don't feel bad about the economy entering into a recession and people losing their jobs?

When I heard the chemist I hired was wfh and only coming in to work one day a week I knew something was wrong. When we created the position it was 2/3 hands on work. What has occurred is that the unit has eliminated all but essential testing and that is done by the shift techs. I hope some of these wfh employees understand that they may be proving themselves expendable.

Michael Burry is short the market and is using his platform/notoriety to try and drive it down further.

Just like Kathy Woods is trying desperately to prop it up.

Definitely has a little to do with it.

I would imagine a lot of DEI and HR positions are on the block in the impending layoffs. A lot of those positions are redundant, unnessecary, overhead, and people who want to exclusively WFH.

He also has a different hot take prediction every month. For some reason my phone news is always telling me about them, he really enjoys the attention

No doubt that Hollywood inflated the ego.

I'm also not sure why the focus on this as if he's being especially prescient. Yeah, news flash, we're heading into some not so good economic times. The WFH statement just seems to be fodder for generating attention.
