Yep, Donald Draper wouldn't have nothing to do with that.

Except, if you read the entire article, you find the company does not need as much space due to remote workers and they are looking for a smaller place in Orleans Parish.

$200 per SF?

They are wanting to lease that building for $8 million a year? Good luck with that. I hope my math is wrong.

It’s a shell of itself and far from some powerhouse. They lost their account with the city and the city hired a New York firm to do advertising for the tricentennial stuff.

Nothing to see here, just some reverse gentrification to enable black business to come in and fulfill the destiny of a chocolate city.

It's always been a sweatshop.

It's the marketing version of working for a Big Four accounting firm... with worse hours and less pay.

It's also been a very old fashioned run firm... someone made a Don Draper reference and that's very much how the firm has been run. Big "butts in seats" mentality and old-line methods.

That doesn't work as well today and it's a big reason the firm has struggled.

The new owner supposedly is more modern and is willing to let people work remotely at least some of the time, wants to bring in new methods, etc... which is a big reason for both less space needed and wanting to get a new location.

They are trying to move on from the past.

Office space is about the worse use for any building right now, so if it can be repurposed, it makes a lot of sense. She may also be able to clear some acquisition debt by unloading this space, in addition to the "fresh start" aspects.

“We had an 18-month lease so this has always been part of the plan,” Edelman said. “The creative workforce has changed since the pandemic and creative talent expect to be able to work remotely. So, we need less space for the same number of employees and we need a space that can offer a hybrid work environment.”

The firm will remain headquartered in New Orleans, though Edelman doesn’t have a new location yet. She’s currently looking for a space ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 square feet — a footprint that is some 25% to 50% smaller than the size of the agency’s Camp Street offices.

Carry on with your LOLNOLASUX circle-jerk though
