Really? So how has every other war ended by a treaty started? By space aliens?

Let me help you out a little bit. Ukraine and Russia have been engaged in peace talks for months. They even got close to an agreement before the UK came in a fricked it up. Too much money in it for the West.

Russia could have peace right now. Withdraw its invading army and go back to Russia. It’s very simple.

Of course there could have been. Russia could have chosen not to invade its neighboring country. Peace.

Why would they do that? They've taken control of the entire Eastern border of Ukraine. An area the size of Greece.

And no one is trying to stop them. All those billions Biden is sending them is going exactly where its intended to go. Into the pockets of the oligarchs.

Then you’ve answered the question. Russia wants military conquest and to seize land inside the borders of another country by military force. As long as this is Russia’s policy, there can be no peace.

It’s amazing how anyone can blame Ukraine for there not being peace while Russian military troops are trying to conquer and seize Ukrainian territory. Ukraine is not invading Russia.

Have Russia sign a treaty … like the one that Russia had previously signed along with the United States and Ukraine where Ukraine agreed to give up their nukes if Russia and the United States signed a treaty?

Of course, we’ve breached that too, but I guess that’s different, right?

What breach?

Basically, we agreed to bitch to the UN on Ukraine’s behalf. We have done that in spades.

Some claim that there was a secret, under the table agreement for us to do more than that, but it is not found in the terms of any treaty.

Why would Ukraine want peace right now considering the ground they just gained in Ukraine and Russia seemingly reeling now having to draft 300k reservists? They are in the position of power now and their aim was to always boot Russia entirely out of their country.

Keep in mind Russia just ran in an annexed a big part of Ukraine back in 2014. Russia still controls that and Ukraine wants it back.

As long as Ukraine is getting western support (Weapons) that can continue to have a war of attrition they are clearly winning with Russia, they arent going to be backing down. Nor would I in their situation.

Wouldnt be too unsimilar a situation say in 2014 Russia invaded Alaska, installed a puppet govt and declared independence from USA and is now a part of Russia. Says we didnt have the means to defend Alaska at that time and just had to essentially give it up. Then in 2022 Russia started an invasion of the west coast of the USA into Washington, Oregon and California, this time we are putting up a fight, and other western countries send us a bunch of weapons, and we push the Russians back. Say we even pushed them entirely off the west coast (Ukraine hasnt totally accomplished this yet) but they still controlled Alaska. Would you just want peace at that point or go after Alaska too? Fk no, we're going after Alaska too.

There's only one problem. Russia is open to peace talks, and Ukraine is willing to listen. The West keeps messing things up. So if your only terms for peace is unmitigated surrender under no real threat of allied force, Russia isnt budging. A third grader can understand that.

We don't like Belarus. We've applied economic sanctions against them, which is prohibited under the Memorandum. We have excuses for doing so of course.

Surrender? Surrender what? If the Russian army goes home what have they surrendered?

Your problem is that you are of the opinion that Russia is entitled to invade and conquer some portion of Ukraine. In your mind, repelling the invasion makes the invader a victim of the bully that kicks the invader out.

So if a crackhead with a gun comes into your house and wants you wife, would you give her up to make peace? After all, you can't expect the crackhead to have to surrender. That's unreasonable.

both sides would need to agree to some territory borders.
neither country would today.
what this situation needs to bring it to talks is chechnyan style Moscow subway bombings.
bring the war to Moscow.
then both sides have skin in the game. as things are
Russia can just counter infinitely until one day they have what they want.
1300 protesters were arrested after the call up was announced.
