This is starting to look like a worse case scenario for Tampa/St Pete

I'm a lowly utility worker. We have folks who are paid a lot of money to make weather decisions, and we do what they tell us. I was just sitting here at 2AM on a Tuesday running through my mental to-do list and trying to get insight from RDS, et al on when I would be likely to be heading out (i.e., when the winds would subside in central FL).

looking at about 8"-10" in my area for the next 4 days I think we will be ok out here. Just hope our electricity says on if not I got my generators ready.

They changed the update for my house overnight. I have been upgraded to seeing 110+, with a few hours of rain @ 4" per hour.
Good lord Hangman it maybe time to go East my friend.
eta: I am about to get off work and fill up my gas cans I hope I don't have to show nobody my knuckles at the gas station.

The marine forecast for Wednesday from Englewood to Tarpon Springs is beyond scary.
20-25 foot seas. In the fricking gulf.
I’m afraid to look at the surge map now.

Had trees cut down, a new roof, and not going anywhere with Peanut, Jax, and Tinka. I would also not consider going without them.

Live NE of Tampa and truly appreciate all the utility workers that come in and help us get up and going. God bless and be safe.

I assume that is your pets and I fully understand. I have 3 golden retrievers and if they stay I stay and if I leave they leave also. Stay safe my friend

I’m in Wesley Chapel and really wasn’t considering evacuating until I saw the update this morning.
ETA: It could be too late.

We have not heard from the Gump that moved to Zephyrhills before Irma. I wonder if he bailed after that?

Thank you Spankum, all good my way. Prayers for our West FLA Gulf Coast Tigers!

Most of Florida already saturated with water from so much rain recently. So ground very saturated . Not good for water backing up and really not good for tree's roots with high winds.

In Celebration. I bet my commute to work today is going to be a bitch having to go I4 east.
That said, can you get to the Villages or even Clermomt? We are riddled with massive hotels in central Fl that have enough backup generators they could still run after nuclear warfare took the state.

We are going to get a ton of rain and wind here in PV. I just hope the trees hold with all the saturation of water combined with the wind. Looks like the worst wind will hit when it comes hitting from the southwest.

Can confirm with Ida. Instead of just snapping halfway up, a lot of the tall pines around here uprooted.

TEAL71 getting ready to head out

Yeah we have alot of oaks here in Jax and those seem to just fall over in storms . Pines 50/50 on snapping or just falling over. When a storm is approaching that's usually the first thing people start looking at the trees around your house.
