A Kentucky man who killed three students and injured five more in a school shooting a quarter century ago has a chance at parole this week.

Michael Carneal was a 14-year-old freshman in 1997 when he fired a stolen pistol at a before-school prayer group in the lobby of Heath High School, near Paducah, Kentucky. He received a life sentence with the opportunity for parole after 25 years, the maximum allowed at the time for someone his age.

been so many of them. but, was this the one who pulled the fire alarm and waited for people to run out and started picking them off?

Also, this happened when school shootings weren't nearly as common as they are today. so, he got 25 years. i think he girl who is in a wheelchair because of this will have something to say.

Several of the local newspapers here have been covering the victims and where they are in their lives.

He’s not getting out. If he does, he won’t last long.

Frankly I’m not interested in seeing if he’s no longer a threat to society. The people he killed will never get the chance to see what they would become. He should never be free.

I met a girl about a year after that and went on a few dates. Turns out she was at that school and her family moved that summer to get away. She would not talk about it at all and I’m pretty sure it messed her up for life.

There seems to be plenty of room to cut expenses in the prison budget for Food.

I'm not against him living, but he should never be free. Too much of a liability.

Often these horrendous criminals can share their downfalls with lesser criminals. It can sometimes turn a person towards the right path. Society has nothing to gain from him being free though.

How did he get fat in prison? Don't they eat bread and water and pound rocks all day?
