Totally agree. My family lives walking distance to the murder, very desirable neighborhood. She sent us an old house from the late 20s I was dying to buy, and honestly as beautiful as it was, I’m glad we opted not to. I love Mid City - I truly do. But screw the crime. It’s not worth it.

My husband and I both worked in mid city pre covid and loved it. The crime now just makes me sad.

OP- what could people actually do to keep this in the news spotlight?

Can we please keep politics out of this thread? It cheapens the message. There’s an entire board for it and this thread isn’t on it. I think we can demand change from the media in how it treats local politicians while keeping politics separate.

Politics is why the guy that did it wasn’t in prison.

You have to have an honest discussion. Which is exactly why I mentioned Kip. A Democrat, but went to both Universities in BR. While the current didn’t and is from Chicago. She doesn’t give a frick about anyone there.

I need to add, I’m assuming a male did it and has a record. People without records don’t do that.

I’d love for Tucker to pick it up and hammer BR officials every night until the killer is caught. I did see that the NY Post reported it.

Hammer the local media’s social media pages at every chance. Ask them why they’re not pressing the mayor and PD hard on crime levels in the area on every single one of their posts - related or not. It needs to be in their face for them to see how fed up we are. They monitor their posts, trust me. They also monitor this site, that’s confirmed.

There is no money in solving this murder. If there is nothing for the mayor to loot, it’s just a number on a wall.

I will try. I don’t live there, but lived there for 12 years. But I’ve noticed these cowards won’t let you comment at times.

And this is a story they probably won’t. Because we and everyone else knows this was b on w.

I agree. Keep thus story front and center and start a coalition to fight this shite. It's time to plan a meeting to hold BR leadership
(and I say that lightly) accountible.

Much of the rot we have today, is due to the media giving our "leaders" a pass on crime. Our media is complicit in this and absolutely worthless.

And that's because if they report on anything "negative" (or the truth) that makes the mayor look bad she will deny them access. Like what happened to Kiran Chawla.

And didn't she recently get kicked out of a public press conference? The media's purpose is supposed to be a part of checks and balance within our government so when you have elected officials dictating who can and can't attend a public press conference or threaten to withhold information from the media because they only want the media to report on things that make them look good, they need to be kept in check.

Different people need to start running for public office. There needs to be some type group that has an established agenda for the city. And they are certain things they have to support (an agreed plan for what is needed to improve the police department. Anyone who wants to run for school board, in order to gain the support of the group they have to support whatever they have to in order to improve the school system, etc.

I believe any city can be improved or brought back to life with the right leadership.

The problem is.. The number of people who turn out to vote for a presidential election is a lot more than people who turn out for local elections, which I don't understand since local politics have more of an impact on our everyday lives than national politics.

Again, SWB doesn’t care that you do pay taxes. That’s exactly what she wants. She has no plan to use your tax dollars effectively to prevent crime in a city that has seen a triple digit murder count this year and the previous year under her watch.

They are never getting caught unless coincidentally busted for another murder.
