We have an idiot resident in the White House with a band of fools who are still spending or trying to spend a couple of trillion dollars even as the fed jacks up interest rates to fight inflation. To compound the folly, Brandon's Marxist string pullers are doing everything in their power to shutdown fossil fuels. The high cost of energy gets into every product and manufacturing process.

How dumb is that?

Did you mean to say that you 'bought' a couple of puts in anticipation? So you'd profit from the sell-off?

Or, you sold a few calls in anticipation because you'd collect the premiums and the calls would expire worthless with the sell-off.

New CPI numbers just announced.
August inflation numbers worse than expected, 8.3%

This is quite a shock, in light of July's 0% inflation, and also a report I heard on the news just yesterday evening by a leading economist who claimed that "inflation will be ending sooner than expected."

Why are the markets panicing, and a broad pall of pessimism rueing the day?

Some of our suppliers have seen numbers like that. It’s brutal.

definitely closer to 15% than the bull shite 8% released for public consumption

Yeah, they definitely need to add some items to the market basket that they use to calculate inflation.

I'm about 95% cash

Sold QQQ puts at $285 strike price which expire next week. Collect the premiums & will not be upset (hopefully!) if I am assigned the ETF at the much lower buy in. If I am assigned those, then I look at selling calls at a short interval to collect premium & hopefully make quick profit on any subsequent bounce sale.

Edit: actually expire Friday (9/16)

Trolling or downright stupidity. I’m not sure which it is.

“Leading economists” that find themselves doing media interviews are wrong almost 100% of the time.

Because the economy is fricked and these number continue to prove it. For the love of God, the prescribed solution is to destroy demand in order to save us from inflation.

You notice she didn't actually mention the current inflation rate.
