My nephew and his family moved from Abbeville to Beaumont several years ago for a better work opportunity. He adapted quickly and just loves Beaumont. Nice size town with Lamar University for his kids to attend. Big time High School Football there also. Not all that far to make it back home for a visit.

the dude lives in Lake Charles, i am pretty sure he is aware of what Beaumont has to offer

He's coming from Lake Charles. That relativity is going to kick him in the dick.

Pretty much all the towns west of 281 and east of San Angelo/Abilene are cool IMO. Can’t really go wrong. I used to drive up 281 from San Antonio to stephenville and all of the towns I passed through I wouldn’t mind living in. All of the towns an hour or so west of 281 are also nice.

Boerne is cool but castroville is also nice. Floresville and Pleasanton are underrated because the towns are half hispanic. This shouldn’t matter to OP, they are nice areas and more country than the northern suburbs which are having a lot of out of state and city people move in.

Solid list. My grandmother was from mason, texas. If I could live in any town in texas it would probably be mason. Unfortunately I have a feeling it’s slowly going the way of Fredericksburg.

Brenham

Brenham to College Station is 40 minutes

To Houston: 1 hour

To Austin: 1h15

To LC: 3h15

Everything else is “overly pricey”

Move to Corpus Christie south side. Send him to Vets Memorial or London school. Just don’t expect your grass to grow very well. It hardly rains.
Gregory Portland on north side.

That town is full. No more residents being accepted.

Sorry. City Hall just sent out the announcement last week.

If another storm hits and my family and I bail, we’ve discussed Richmond, TX. SW side of Houston. Someone can probably tell me I’m crazy and say it’s a bad idea. Drove through it a couple times. Seems nice and out of the way but still close enough.

Lake Charles got its teeth kicked in with those hurricanes and the feds don’t seem to care.

I think it’s got a bright future. But I could see the appeal of moving to Texas. I did for a while.

Check out Waxahatchee (so. of Arlington), Canyon (so. of Amarillo), maybe San Antonio and the environs near-by, TX Hill Country smaller towns for options. Safe, good schools, amenities there or near. I live in Mansfield…already too close to DFW, but not totally wrecked yet.

do clearlake, league city or friendswood if wanting to stay on sw side. but reality is....that area is still in the path of hurricanes as much as LC is. just been lucky other than ike. But it would be easy for you to get a job and prolly make as much or more than you do now.

but please pray no hurricane i cant leave and my life....well my wifes, would be literal hell if we had a hurricane again.
