My favorite Murray story....

quote:

For reasons that make sense only to Bill Murray, anytime the 1989 movie Road House is on TV — day or middle of the night — he'll call producer Mitch Glazer and tell him about it. Glazer's wife is Kelly Lynch, who co-starred with Patrick Swayze in the movie, and the pair had some especially steamy scenes. Murray will tell Glazer, in his best Carl Spackler from Caddyshack voice, "Kelly's having sex with Patrick Swayze right now. They're doing it. He's throwing her against the rocks," and then he'll hang up.

"God help me when AMC's doing their Road House marathon, because I know the phone is just going to keep ringing," Lynch said in a recent interview. "It doesn't matter if it's 2 or 3 in morning. 'Hi, Kelly's having sex with Patrick Swayze right now.'"

Quick Change is always #1 in my most underrated movies of all time. Just brutally funny, tons of lines I still repeat to this day, and an absolutely incredible cast from top to bottom.

Need to go back and watch lost in translation. I have to say it did almost nothing for me when I first watched it, but perhaps I was too young to relate to such a middle age story.

My wife and I also stayed at the Tokyo park Hyatt on our honeymoon and just loved the hotel so maybe it will give me some nostalgia joy.

He seems like a cool dude who's a hilarious actor.

He's not getting paid but he goes way out of his way to entertain golf fans at the AT&T celebrity Pro-Am in Pebble Beach every year. He's like the official court jester of that golf tournament.

Its weird, he's notoriously inaccessible with studios and Directors to offer him a role but seems to be very accessible by his fans...at least at public events.

High-fives spectators, interacts excessively with him...the man just seems to enjoy entertaining off the cuff more than doing movies.

For me he's the goat in comedy movies. Agree about Quick Change. Very clever underrated comedy movie with a great cast. His run as Nick The Lounge Singer is all time great skits on SNL.

Some movies he's good, some movies he's just too over the top for my taste.

But, that is true for many actors----Al Pacino is a prime example, especially his later in life stuff.

What could not be great about Bill Murray, Jason Robards, Randy Quaid, Phil Hartman, Tony Shaloub, and Stanley Tucci being in the same darn movie? And, throw in Geena Davis in her prime after she got rid of the idiot spouse.

YouTube video has Peter Farelly talking about filming Kingpin. Bill looked at the script and then tossed it aside and said, "I've got it..." He just skims scripts to get the basic understanding of the plot and character then improvises everything.

They needed him to throw three strikes when filming Kingpin...

Let him tell the story.

I think all the Murray brothers do this to Mitch, but Bill is the biggest offender.
