Safe to say the final goes 5 sets? Marathon after marathon

Since Casper Ruud is not even a real person I'm pulling for The Animal Alcaraz.

The drugs were only calibrated for 5 hour matches
This was only ~4.5

The Spanish civil war and Francos dictatorship absolutely ruined spanish society and culture
Its definitely a weird outlier when compared to other western democracies

That’s my understanding. The whole splitting off thing for (Barcelona region?) a few years back was wild.

A little odd interviewing Tiafoe. You could tell he didn’t want to be there.

Frances picking up the yard sale he was having around his chair.

Alcaraz over Ruud 3-1 on Sunday.
Becomes world number 2 (IRL) behind Joker.

Can we get someone to pull a Tonya Harding on Ruud and fly Joker out to play the final?

Djokerphiles are getting a bit ridiculous on here. Guy got a free pass in Wimbledon between Nadal’s injury and multiple top ten players banned because the Brits are a bunch of morons.
No guarantee he wins this tournament.

I don't believe anyone said that.

Yeah, I am not a fan of interviewing the losing player in a semifinal. I understand that he is an American and this is the US Open etc., but I think they should reserve interviewing the losing player only in finals, when they are presented a runner up trophy.
Although he lost, it was a good tournament for Tiafoe. Before this I think his best result was maybe rd of 16 at a major, and there was very little to indicate that he could one day be a consistent top 10-12 player. This tournament has really changed that perception, and it should give him confidence going forward. Alcaraz was just too good and is certainly a future superstar of the game; as McEnroe said, he has a more complete game than Nadal did at age 19. Not to say he is going to match Rafa's or Djoker's achievements, but I think there is a good chance he wins at least 10 majors in his career -- assuming he stays relatively healthy. He has some things to learn but the tools and mentality are abundant.

Very entertaining match. Quality was not consistent throughout, but was incredibly high at points.
Fantastic run by Tiafoe, and the tiebreaker record is awesome.
Congrats to Alcaraz. Kid is amazing for a 19 year old.

Iga is your champ. It was a wild second set. She had two break points to go up 4-0 and lost the game. Jabeur fought back from that and 2-4, then had two break points of her own at 4-4, but didn't convert. Jabeur then fended off a couple of match points and the tiebreak had some major swing changes. Every time one woman looked like they would take control of the second set, the momentum swung. A funny thing happened today. People realized that Iga's forehand is the weaker side.
