How long has Alcaraz been threatening this type of success?

It can’t have been for very long given his age, but surely he didn’t jump in the scene in the last 6 months.

I ask because I’ve never heard of him(I’m a very casual fan).

One year ago exactly. He beat Tsitsipas in the third round and made the quarters. He kind of tapped out physically at that point. A lot of people expected him to win the French, but Zverev played really well and took him out. Alcaraz is probably better on hardcourts. Anyway, tennis fans have been expecting this run. I just hope he has gas in the tank tomorrow, it's been a brutal week on him.

I appreciate the answer.

Idk what he’ll have left in the tank but if it’s not 100% the match is going to be tough for him. Ruud seems to have the ability to make him work REALLY hard to earn points.

I’m shocked at how good Alcaraz is. But Ruud has been highly impressive as well(I’d also never heard of him).

At least this “boring” final during NFL week 1 should cut down on the dumb takes and GOAT debates. There’s plenty enough time for that between now and the Aussie Open.

+190 on Ruud boy is tempting.

It is.

I’ve been thinking about how/when fatigue might affect Alcaraz but considering he hasn’t shown any signs yet and it’s his first final, I really can’t see it. In the Foe match it took him about a set and a half to dial in, and I can see that as a possibility. Either that or a combination of nerves and being too amped up early on. So I’ll probably just play Ruud 1st set and then enjoy the match.

Wonder if anyone has ever won four 5-setters in a row.

Nothing like a 56-shot set point to get you hyped for some pong.

ETA: I’m playing under 12.5 combined aces

Showtime, boys. I have a large wager on Ruud. I guess it's kind of an emotional hedge.

Both guys were getting into the other's serve the first few games. Ruud finally got an easy hold. Alcaraz up a break.

Alcaraz makes these volleys look easy. They're not.

Red blouse in Ruud's box. They'll show her again I'm sure. I assume it's his girlfriend. Just spectacular.

Apparently his sisters are “talented” as well

I was just going to say, it's confusing, because his sisters are apparently hot, too. I was on some tabloid site that supposedly had pics of the girlfriend, but then the jpg was labeled with his sisters. Anyway, I think this is the Italian girlfriend.

Lot at stake in this match for both players. Hope it goes the distance for the drama. Just tuned in after Saints game but looks like they’ve been evenly matched so far
