Anybody got any info on the old Bon Ton. I'll hang up and listen.

It closed literally days before the Covid lockdowns. At the time, I think I remember the article said there was a sales agreement in place. I don't know if it went through.
I loved the crawfish bisque and crabmeat au gratin among other things. Loved the atmosphere. Owners were very nice people.

Yeah, I'm aware of all that and agree. The food was great and Wayne was a great guy. Just curious about the future plans???

Their bread pudding was my favorite.

I haven't heard a peep since then. I'll ask a friend of theirs if she has heard anything.

I used to like the Bon Ton.
The younger generations seem to be moving away from the old time old fashioned New Orleans classics.

Where was this place and how long was it open? I have never heard of it.

It was on Magazine in the CBD. I believe it was one of the oldest restaurants in New Orleans. The family who just sold it ran it for about 70 years, I believe.

Corner of Magazine St. and Poydras. Opened in the late 40's or 50's. The great thing about them was the consistency of the food.

Loved that place. Was very sad when they sold it. I heard the recipes went with the sale so the new owners have what the need to keep things in place.
But COVID and the stupid Mayor have made it impossible for places like this to carry on.

They were like Nostradamus. They announced they were shutting down for good like a month before the shite hit the fan on all that stuff.
It actually turned out to be one of the last places I ate before everything closed.

They got out just in the nick of time.
I also agree that this restaurant was very consistent. Consistently delicious.

That was the most alcoholic bread pudding in N.O., we use the recipe, but lighten up on the booze.
The Bon Ton was great, the ambiance, the food, the servers on the elderly side. Very consistent quality.

Ate there once, about a week before the closing was announced. It was excellent.
