You don't think the team that shares the same city playing in Tiger Stadium for the first time ever has something to do with an uptick in ticket demand? If Ausberry is overselling it, you seem to be underselling it too. Ticket demand would definitely not be as high if this was someone like Towson or Sam Houston State or something.

Why are Southern fans excited about watching their team get walloped by 50 points?

Y’all are mostly all missing my point here.

Media has been pushing the HBCU narrative hard in the last year or two. They are pumping these schools up to be something bigger than they actually are.

The point is dumb. Why does it affect you if they are being "pumped up"?

It’s typical woke ESPN bs that’s all. Just like Kapernick not getting a fair chance at a roster spot. Total nonsense.

No one believes that. Let it go. It’s because of BK

What a shite take you have here.

It's the first ever matchup between SOuthern and LSU and they are in the same city. Southern fans and Alumni in the city of BR and surrounding areas are probably pretty excited about the arse whipping they will get.

Was that mentioned at all or is that your own personal insecurity shining through?

What utter bullshite, there has been a buzz about this since it was announced in June of 2020. Jeez you come across as one of those directional school fans all butthurt over some perceived slight that is nothing.

Have a drink and settle down man.

Oh I agree, but if we do play an FCS school, why not make it a local one?

This is a game to be played once, and then never again. Get La. Tech if Tulane is a no go.

Subtle racism at its finest...and some of you mfs are quick to call someone a racebaiter. Nobody pushing a damn narrative but you right now... and why tf does this topic matter so much to you to make a thread about it? Verge has nothing to gain from what he said. Every home opener is a big deal. It doesn't matter who the coach is.

2 BR based schools. LSU's first home game of BK era. Cheap Tickets. First time LSU has played Southern.

Seems like demand would be high.

I don't necessarily disagree. But it's also not unreasonable to think there would be great demand for the game with LSU playing another school also located in Baton Rouge for the first time ever. Greater demand than games vs. Alabama? Probably not. But it could be given the uniqueness of the game and the fact that the vast majority of fans who would like to attend probably live within easy driving distance of BR.

I fully agree the perpetual media virtue signaling is exhausting. But in this instance, who cares? At worst it is LSU fudging a bit trying to promote an event that could be looked at as a positive for the City of Baton Rouge. That's not some egregious position.

God forbid someone from the athletic department is hyping up a game with a cross-town school that LSU has never played. It will be the highest attended nonconference game of the year and probably would have been even without it being Kelly's first game in TS.

You just seem to really dislike HBCUs, wonder why that is…
