It Is Well With My Soul?

A quick anecdotal story

Was in a church in the bush of Zimbabwe where they didn’t speak a lick of English and we sang this song in their native language and I sang off memory in English and it may have been the single most moving moment of my life

Humanity brought together 1,000s of miles apart in different languages in unity singing praises .

That no matter what obstacles we face in our respective societies this was the thing that could bring us together .

In history? Too many to choose, but the first two that popped into my head:

Bittersweet - Big Head Todd and the Monsters

The Back of Your Hand - Dwight Yoakam

Just my opinion but when we talk about the most truly beautiful pieces of music in human history, modern pop/rock/country has nothing on classical music.

Biebl - "Ave Maria"

Allegri - "Miserere Mei, Deus"

Palestrina - "Adoramus Te"

J. S. Bach - "Air on the G String"

Beethoven - "Moonlight Sonata"

Debussy - "Claire de Lune"

Praetorius - "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming"

Claire de Lune is Claude Debussy not Chopin. Good choice though.

I don’t know about beautiful, but Glen’s last song entitled Not Gonna Miss You is the saddest song I’ve ever heard, especially when you know the context…
