BATON ROUGE –– Two former LSU basketball stars were part of the graduating class Friday at the summer commencement ceremonies at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Both Duane Spencer and Vernel Singleton, who played for Coach Dale Brown received their diplomas Friday as part of Project Graduation. Spencer was able to be here for the ceremony, but Singleton was unable to attend due to an illness in his family, according to Coach Brown.
The mission of Project Graduation is quite simple: To assist former student-athletes with completing graduation requirements and obtain their degrees so that they can move forward in their careers and individual life pursuits. This is achieved by being proactive in reaching out to former student-athletes and by providing information and assistance to those who reach out to us.

One of my all time favorites, and the band aid! Wonder what his vertical was in his prime.

Oh he definitely went vertical in his prime. Very headstrong, cocksure player.

Happy for Vernel.
CSB - Vernel and Chris Jackson were in my freshman Poli Sci class and autographed my syllabus. They were actually in class from time to time.

man what are they Doctors? How long did it take them to graduate? Love LSU sports and all but stuff like this kind of kills me. They are already given everything while they go to school for free. They left school without a degree. Why is it the schools responsibility to go pull them back and help them get the degree. Are they reaching out to regular former students that left without a degree that were paying for their own school? Are they trying to assist them in completing a degree?

I have an LSU Basketball preseason media guide. His vertical was a ridiculous 42" for a 6'6" player.

Favorite player from my younger days
