I think the NBA has caught up with what KD and Kyrie are trying to get done.

no team has the assets needed to get KD in a trade.

I want to see the NBA get rid of the cap and go full free market on players contracts. Guys like KD and lebron would get absolutely stupid money.

Might as well contract from 30 to 16 teams if you want to go this route. They probably need to contract anyways. There are not enough NBA quality players to fill 30 rosters.

Sure but at the end of the day, you pick the elite player over the coach 100 times out of 100. There isn’t much of a choice there.

Generally, yes

But when the elite player creates all of the issues he is now whining about, even if you say ok KD we'll fire Nash and/or Marks, you need to also tell KD to STFU about any future input on new hires. He'll have zero say and that's that.

And again, you'll try to trade him but if there's no market like there is now, then tough.

Even with 4 years left on his deal, KD was thought to have lots of leverage, but that leverage only applies if there's a viable market for him, which there doesn't appear to be.

Other sports don’t have the same structure as the NBA that naturally leads to players having a high amount of leverage

I understand this. The number of players on the court and the size of the court mean that one player can make that much of a difference. I just hate the direction the league is going. I like the sport but hate the league.

I'd much rather see my son sign a guaranteed NBA contract than NFL. Preferably just north of what the Joker is making.

The easiest of decisions.

In a perfect world, yeah I’d love to do that as the team

But the Nets have kind of squared themselves in.

In most cases, the team goes fine we’ll just yank and start anew- but they gave away every functional asset for the foreseeable future so tanking doesn’t really make a lot of sense because they can’t control their own competitiveness to increase the chances of another elite player falling to them through the traditional route

So basically they have the path of not trading KD and being in the conversation as a title contender for the next few years- in which case you should be trying to smooth that bridge as much as possible and if all that stands in the way are a GM and a coach then you absolutely take that chance

Option 2 is you trade Durant and either take a shite offer and be just good enough to not make those assets you traded not be massive picks, or you could try to find a bad team who is willing to try to get Durant even if he doesn’t want to be there either- and this route isn’t necessarily a viable one bc I don’t think any of these kind of teams exist

It was bad process from the beginning which has led them down this corner that there’s no real way out of, and if you believe this demand is a viable way out of that corner- you take it. And I’m aware that this could totally be BS from Durant and he’ll want out regardless- but there’s no much to lose

Didn't KD personally handpick Nash as the guy to coach the Nets. Now all of a sudden, he is demanding that he be fired.

I mean we all knew that KD was a snake. But damn.

But again, smoothing things over does not mean he gets to keep calling the shots.

Like I said, I'm absolutely sure he doesn't just want those 2 fired, he wants to pick the next ones too, I have no reason to believe otherwise. So even if you go as far as letting him get those 2 fired, you absolutely cannot let him pick the next 2...you just can't.

It's no different than why the Lakers should not trade those 2 draft picks unless Lebron signs that extension. You have to draw a line somewhere, and it becomes easier to draw the line when said player is not leading you to successful outcomes.

Owners should get rid of all coaches and GM’s and just let the star players run the teams in the NBA. They pretty much do anyway. Another thing to thank LeBron for.

Excited for his son with 0 college offers and a 7 PPG high school hoops average to go top 5 in the draft

Bronny isn't surefire NBA player but the reason he doesn't have offers is because everyone knows he's going to GLeague if they haven't changed the 1 and done rule by then.

Or it could be that he's pretty trash and that's the narrative.

If you're averaging below double figures as a high school junior you're not really that good

You're basically just willfully ignorant if you believe that. If he just sucked colleges would offer him to have his dad supporting the program. Marcus Jordan averaged 10 pts a game in HS and he had offers from Miami, Stanford, UCF, Iowa, and Butler.

The best players already go to a handful of cities while the others are forced to give maxes to players that don’t deserve them.
