Well it was, but that was a few seasons ago. Obviously a lot can happen in a couple of seasons.

A total inability to own your mistakes is an issue.

If Durant wants Nash gone, he has to admit he and Moonbeam fricked up by pushing for him.

I don't know and won't even pretend to be well versed in the nuances of the CBA, but the NBA has gone all in on the emphasis of the individual player over the team and that has pretty much permanently turned me away from the league for several years now.

Nash looked lost at times last year

Well yeah. He was coaching a team of assholes who don't listen at all, had one guy who refused to play home games, and another who was so lazy and disinterested they traded him for another guy who also was refusing to play.

Clearly. Maybe the players should stick to playing instead of trying to insert lackey coaches with no experience

I'm pretty sure KD is the reason Nash was hired, no?

It's absurd.

I wonder if this is more directed at Nash specifically. The way it’s worded is a bit ambiguous. “Durant or the combination of Marks and Nash”- maybe I’m over complicating it but technically Marks and another coach would be a different combination

I think KD is just throwing shite against the wall b/c the Nets got no real, legitimate interest for him.

Now he has resigned himself to staying in Brooklyn, but he has to make it seem like they caved.

Well that's not really an NBA thing. That's an economic issue.

I don't see this in other sports, and the NBA promotes its offseason more than its actual season.

I’m not saying it’s 100 percent his fault or anything- just all the more reason he probably shouldn’t have been hired in the first place. Managing those egos is like the number 1 job of NBA head coaching these days no matter where you coach at and who you are coaching, so despite the rough situation he was in, he definitely will need to get better in that area if he really wants to be a career NBA coach

The NBA does this because it is the smallest “team” sport out there with wide reach.

NFL? 11 players at a time, 24+ positions to be filled per game depending on how many kickers, long snappers, punters, etc you have.

Baseball? 9 players minimum, 10 if using a DH. And most pitching staffs are heavy on long relievers these days.

Basketball? 5 core guys and a standard playoff rotation is about 8 guys total.

Other sports don’t have the same structure as the NBA that naturally leads to players having a high amount of leverage

They are 1/12 players on a team in a league with 30 teams in a league that brought in 10 billion dollars in revenue last year

There’s not really a comparable sport in terms of player structure/player ability to effect a teams WL, and revenue generation

Maybe not but the best part of all this is he was because that is who KD wanted.

I didn't think any team could be as dysfunctional as the Knicks, but here we are.

It’s almost as bad as clamoring to fire Frank Vogel or Spo.

Except those two can coach.

Sure but at the end of the day, you pick the elite player over the coach 100 times out of 100. There isn’t much of a choice there.

They already did this exact same thing with Kenny Atkinson and Lebron did it with Mike brown a few times

Because individuals aren't as valuable in other sports.

Again, it's economic.

There is a reason why a guy like Lebron can lead a team of scrubs to the finals. You don't see that in other sports, either.

They have tried to trade him. I'm sure they've been in touch with every NBA team with any trading collateral. Still, no deal. I think the NBA has caught up with what KD and Kyrie are trying to get done.
