As soon as one minimizes the seriousness of sin, no sooner do we remove the need of a Savior.

Sounds like they're preaching loving another despite their sins. Good for them.

The actual age in which we live, is an age in need of a biblical purge.

I'm starting to see that we'll get just that.

Preaching that the audience will burn for eternity is how to get them to walk away.

TGC is devolving along a predictable arc.

Having said that, the tweet is pretty standard pablum. It’s silly in that the Gospel isn’t about making people feel their own worth.

I never understand why so many churches say Jesus will forgive your sins, except for sucking cock, he won't forgive no gay shite. Jesus don't play that. The preacher can frick Steve's wife and that will be forgiven. But we can't abide for Timmy and Tommy to be a couple happy queers.

The communist 'long march through the institutions' is well at hand, now having infiltrated almost all Christian churches.

Knowing what TGC (at least used to) stand for, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that a) we assume everyone is a sinner, so no proof is required, and b) that proof to people of their worth is that their worth is imputed to them via the work of Christ on the Cross and in his life. He died the death we should have died and lived the life we should have lived.

Not the best worded Tweet though in this moaralistic age we DO indeed live in. How does he say we don’t live in a moralistic age? Virtue signaling, PC and wokeism are the very definition of moralism.

Seems more like an attention grabbing headline than anything. There is nuance to the conversation but it should not come at the cost of the reality of sin and need for repentance. TGC is supposed to be pretty good from what I know, have they started to fall off recently?

To me this seems almost like TGC is inviting clicks. The underlying substance is largely fine, the title/theme make it seem worse than it is.

Most churches are nothing more than social justice organizations.

Its a materialistic age, even religion is materialistic and not spiritual.

This world is big on feeling good about themselves, just not very much into the whole repentance thing or seeing themselves through God’s eyes, and so they miss the entirety of the Gospel message, the need for a savior, and instead fall prey to false gospels and false prophets, and there are many of them today who dress hip, talk hip, and tell you just what you want to hear.

We are in age of Grace. Sinners can be saved. Salvation is thru faith in Christ. We are all sinners. If in faith, we try not to sin. All will fail. Some try harder than others. Others reject Christ and do not try to live sin free. Is already a pretty simple and inclusive message found all thru the new testament.

Not sure why a church would post such a message.

As soon as you let the savior define the "sin", you've become a cult.

How about just living a life where you treat people with respect, help folks who need it and pay as much attention to your responsibilities as you do your rights.

Christ died for your sins in one of the most horrific ways in History, but we want to make sure you feel good about yourself above all....

We have exchanged the truth for a lie…

No one hates the sinner but no one should be willing to accept the sin either…

The Gospel Coalition started out strong, but quickly fell to the wayside.

Its a delicate balance between discouraging sin and encouraging living the good life because a person's worth is so much more than what they can imagine.

I think that is their point, just yelling "Stop! Don't sin!" is less effective than showing someone how much they are loved and created in the image and likeness of God. A creation that has immeasurable worth.

"We don't live in a Moralistic Age...."

HUH??

I don't know who Sam Allberry is, but YES, nowadays we especially need the reminder that WE ARE ALL SINNERS in desperate need of redemption and Salvation.

And NO, feelings of "worth" and approval as defined by this World are NOT a Gospel message, but a sneaky Pride message.

This is an obvious Flashing "Pride" directional and attempt at a Church hijacking of young people. TURRIBLE spiritual guidance.

"We need to prove they're worth something."

Uh, Benjamin Spock already handled that. School teachers followed his instructions:

Teacher: Little Johnny, you have 4 + 6 = 5. That's very close as well as imaginative. You get an 'A' for effort!!

Johnny: But I really want a participation trophy.

Teacher: That's coming tomorrow.
