Going for my fourth time this season. I live in Oklahoma and usually get in a couple hours before kickoff, watch the game, eat dinner at Doe’s, and get out; however, I want to spend some extra time this year. I’ve read here and other sites that it’s one of the best SEC road game destinations. What makes it so nice in your opinion and how do you spend your time in Fayetteville? TIA

Dickson Street has a nice venue of bars. Pretty much has something for any kind of bar goer; karaoke bar, pool hall, craft beer bar, country bar, nightclubs, shot bars. Not sure if it’ll be open in time, but they are building a Tin Roof bar from Nashville.

Depending on what kind of time you spend in NWA, you may check out the AMP, JJs Live, or George’s for bands playing. If you’re artsy and have the time Crystal Bridges is a great museum. The Walton Performing Arts Center also puts on some big production plays.

A lot of good restaurants around the Fayetteville Square, Bentonville Square, and Promenade mall area.

The tailgating scene for Arkansas kinda sucks in all honesty. And as a person that has attended games in LSU gear and games in Arkansas gear, Arkansas fans really aren’t the most hospitable.

If you drive up Friday night, you can go to the farmers market in the morning. It’s really nicely done and then from there you can walk to tailgating and the stadium

Side note: Never been to an away game @ Arky, but I heard that going to War Memorial stadium in Little Rock used to be a dump.

RIP LSU vs Arky games 1:30 Friday after Turkey day

Arkansas trip changed from WORST in the SEC to one of the best when we stopped playing in the dump at Little Rock. Trashy fans, trashy stadium, etc. Fayetteville is awesome. Amazing how different the people are there.

Only ever been to the turd memorial in Little Rock.

Looking to make the trip this year as I have never been to ARK campus.

Fayetteville in November sounds incredible.

i like going to Crystal Bridges Museum in nearby Bentonville. The setting and buildings are wonderful. Hopefully the leaves are still in fall glory. The fans in Fayetteville are much nicer than the ones in Little Rock

Fayetteville is certainly better than Little Rock, but I would rank it as a middle of the pack SEC road trip at best.

Reserve a cabin now at Petit Jean State Park. It’s two hours out of Fayetteville but absolutely stunning, especially during the fall. Make a long weekend out of it. Bring your own alcohol though.

It was just a cut above Mississippi Memorial Stadium in Jackson. Tigers used to play road games vs Miss St and Ole Miss there, sometimes both in the same season. That place was ghastly.

The saints had a pre season game there a decade or so ago…parking was such a clusterfrick that lots of people missed the game entirely!

Jackson used to have doubleheaders with Ole Miss and Miss St. LSU - Ole Miss would be the day game and Miss St - Bama would be the night game

Yeah and they would drag out Governor Barnett to make some assinine comments at half time. Nevertheless it was fun days back then.

As to the OP, Arkansas is probably my favorite away game. That area of Arkansas has really progressed in the last couple of decades. You will have a great time.

I remember that and the traffic getting out of Mississippi Memorial Stadium was plain horrible. When they beat us, the Ole Miss fans were already on the overpasses on I-55 going out of downtown Jackson waving those Confederate flags...

That's certainly the truth. Back when LSU used to play road games there in the 1970s, there was no pavement for parking. You parked on a grass-covered hillside, which turned into mud during rainy weather. Just a horrible experience.
