Is this a slightly different version of the earlier story (also from New York state) that was said to have happened on Long Island?
The phrase
Warning: This article contains disturbing details that may be upsetting to readers.
wore a cloke of irony if it's the same.
The earlier story inserted the following detail in between his finding his wife and the police and shooting the dog. The phrase basically said when the police arrived, the dog was still chewing on the wife.
Now that'swhat I'd call a disturbing detail.
eta: Albertson is a "hamlet on Long Island", so probably the same.

Oh, well in that case, no issues with pits. They just need to be supervised by only their owner 100% of the time if around other humans or other animals

I have a friend who owns a pit bull, and that may be the sweetest dog in general, that I know. It’s all about how you raise them. Have to make them respect the owner, and they’ll listen to the owner.
It’s unsettling how every pit owner defends the breed in word for word exactly the same way. Y’all are a joke

This is such a dumb take, and it really needs to stop. Saying a dog is sweet should be a baseline here. It's a dog, for crying out loud. It should be sweet. They adore humans.
When's the last time you heard a story about a vicious goldendoodle attacking its owner? Probably never. Pit bulls? Seems like every other day.

Yeah, because no other dogs maul people and maul them to death, you fricking douche. Eat my shite.

And they act like it's a totally reasonable retort.
I don't have to "make my dog respect me" with my Westie She just doesn't go around mauling people with or without my interference.

It most likely was a golden retriever.

What's your pit's name?

When my daughter was a baby, she had trouble breathing so we went to Lafayette General. We shared a room with a 5 year old that got attacked by a dog. The mom gave the insurance lady her name so my wife looked it up on Facebook and yep, they owned 3 pit bulls. When the doctor asked what kind of dog, the dad piped up "Well, you know, we're not going to discuss the breed, etc". and stated that he didn't want police involved because he was afraid they would pick up the dogs.
I guess that's more important than your son needing facial surgery.

And you're an ignorant douche. You know how many of those dogs are in this world? Have you ever even spent any time around pits? A lof of them are mixed with other breeds. The overwhelming majority of them don't do shite like this. A lot of other dog breeds do this shite too, it's just not a boogeyman for the media to report on. I have had two pits in my life that I wound up rescuing or taking from other people who were giving them up. I didn't necessarily choose them but I took them and they were both awesome fricking dogs. I know plenty of other people who have rescued dogs and some of them have been pits and they've been awesome too. My friend had his throat ripped and needed 14 stitches from a Chihuahua. I had a neighbor down the street who's kid was mauled and almost killed by an Akita... he jumped his fence with a baseball bat and beat the dog to death. I don't blame him. If pits do get aggressive, they can do damage. For sure. But the overwhelming majority of them do not. Some of the sweetest dogs I have been around in my life were pitties. So, frick you.

Where I’m at, medical people that treat dog bites are supposed to report it to animal control, not sure about the police, and the dog must be quarantined if the owners can’t show shots are current

no, they need to be supervised by someone who is equipped to handle them, which was obviously not this woman and maybe not even her son who I would assume owned the dog for 7 years previously.
Give a pitbull or other aggressive breed to someone who doesn't know how to handle dogs or treats them like a little dachshund & it will not end well.

For sure. But the overwhelming majority of them do not.
Or are those facts just supposed to be ignored because you have survivor bias?

Make me. Any sonic, anywhere, anytime.
When did I say you were racist? I said your stance on pits is the equivalent to thinking all black people should be executed because a small number of them are committing the most violence and murder in society. I didn't say you actually thought that. It was an example of how ignorant your stance on pits is.
Reading comprehension. Look into it, c u n t.

Well that's nice to know
But they still do it a rate that far exceeds other breeds
Everyone pretty much knew what type of dog it was just by looking at the thread title
If you were surprised it's because you're stupid

Mostly peaceful breed.

Between 2005-2017, there were 433 dog related deaths in the US. 284 (65%) of those deaths were caused by one breed. Pit Bull.
