Isn’t this illegal?
Of course it is and people wonder why the ATF gets so much hate from gun owners.

Who has responsibility for prosecuting this agent and seeing how widespread is this practice?

I know I’ll get downvoted but I doubt this is illegal. Or maybe it’s a gray area that really doesn’t have any legal recourse. It’s not your book. It’s theirs. You are just doing the work for them. They can call on that book at any time to track stolen weapons or other problems they may have. I was called several times to give information on a weapon. Chances are this guy have some irregularities or problems in his log book. And trust me they will find something when they come check your books. Also when you give up your ffl they take possession of the book.

Someone should file a FOIA request on her phone.
Even if it's her personal phone, if she uses it for official business purposes in any way, then it's subject to FOIA.

I just think that's actionable. Someone is going to have to get an injunction or something. At the very least push some discovery. GOA/NRA needs to get on this.

They even updated the 4473 so they can get all the info they want in one picture. They were having to take two pictures to get the persons information and the gun information.
This is not new, I first saw it in the mid 2010's...

Serious question: has the ATF ever done anything good for this country?

They've been keeping records for a long while.
Anyone who thought the government would follow its own rules and not create a registry is a dolt.

Sad that the ATF is so bold and flaunts it. Hope she and the ATF have their day in court to face charges. But that is a pipe dream at this point.
