Played a course I’ve played about 6 times now and played this round from the tips. I managed a personal best of 91 today, but holes that I usually handle were mostly terrible while holes that have given me fits ended in bogey at worst.

I usually start well on hole 1 with a par or bogey and today shanked my drive, flew the green and so on for a scramble double.

However on a par 3 where I’ve always lost every single ball I end up 10 inches left of a cup just barely missing a hole in one.

I was also up and down with the driver today, but the 9 iron was dealing landing me on multiple greens for birdie looks.

Why are you playing from the tips when your best round ever is a 91? I’m sure the folks playing behind you really appreciate it.

We play split tees fairly often.
If distance is an issue, move up.
If not, play wherever.
Sounds like you play ata good pace.

If you practice putting and chipping, your scores will improve.

Once you can get your tee shots in play, play a tee that allows you to hit a variety of approach shots. If you are hitting fairway woods and hybrids into every par 4 after a good tee shot, move up a box.

If you hit wedges into every par 4, move back a box.

I played at Spring Creek Ranch in Collierville TN once. Shot a 50 on the front 9 and couldn’t get out of my own way.
Back nine shot par 36. That’s about as weird as they come.

I walked 9 today
1-3: played the tips
4-6: middle tee
7-9: forward tee

Shot 1 over on each set of 3.
Got to hit different shots than usual.
If I play 9, I just mix it up and do some different yardages to make a 9 after work different each time rather than playing up or middle or back on all of them.

I’ve shot a 41-31 at my home course for an even par 72 on two different occasions.

Club championship
Championship light
Out 38
In 56

Golf broke me on that back 9.
Everything that could go wrong, went wrong.

Hitting a branch and deflected into water.

Hitting a sprinkler head and shooting into water.

Hitting the cart path and OB.

Lost ball in middle of fairway.

The last par 5 I went

7 iron
7 iron
7 iron
Chip
Pit

My only par on that side - all confidence was lost.

Shot 78 the next day but have never been right after that 56.

I'll do a variation of this where I'll use a 3 wood or hybrid instead of driver to give myself different looks.

Distance isn’t an issue at all for me. Plenty of drives pepper 300 or close.

Also on this course the white and blue are mostly on the same tee box just front and back.

I hadn’t played for 6 years until recently. The game is rounding out and getting lower each round.

I mainly lose strokes on a duffed chip or a chip just flying the green. I also lose some due to not holding up play looking for my balls. Guys I was randomly with were spending way more time ball hunting while I just scan, can’t find it and I leave it alone.

I was mainly hitting my wedges at half swings from the white last few rounds.

Funny part is the tips probably allowed a bit faster play on course because this course has a lot of driveable par 4s. The tips added a few holes that we could tee off when people were on the green.

The par 3 I almost got the hole in one is only 100 from the tips. For whatever reason the 90 from whites was causing issues on dialing in distance.

Shot 56 on the front 9, with tons of OBs.

Started back nine bogey-triple then shot -3 on the last 7 holes all birdies and pars

Smooth 56/37
