So there is this group that has this "art work". People can donate to this and I assume cities pay them to put up this "art work"?

If that's how it works, I give credit to whoever put this scam together. Its pretty crafty. They have some statues, get cities to pay them to put these statues up and then ask people for donations. Having those statues gives it something concrete that people can see. People are more likely to donate when they can see something, touch something..

With that said, I give them 5 years. They will eventually be more noticed on the radar and something will lead to an investigation. The question is, if they go under who gets the afro pick?

Artwork comes and goes in New Orleans.

Cantrell paid like 7MM towards art, but no one has any idea what that covers.

Personally, I think Cantrell hoped someone would make a piece of art dedicated to her or of her.

They could erect a giant bronze sack of shite right in the middle of Duncan Plaza. That way her sorry arse could gaze at it lovingly from City Hall.

When I saw this subject, I thought schools had banned metal picks and rakes like they did in the 70's. I think rakes were just cake cutters. Brothers were pulling them in fights.

Wouldn't a mirror be cheaper?

they did pay a lot for it but the afro pick was on tour

black-power-afro-pick-sculpture-part-of-traveling-exhibit for Juneteenth.

suddenly the city would not say how much it cost to be there for the essence fest and juneteenth.

How amazing is it that resources are being wasted to build this and ship it all over the place? Where are the climate hustlers to whine about that one… lol

If you fought a black dude in the 70's, you probably got hit with a pick. They weaponized those things.

Yeah this makes it even worse from my point of view.

Any extra money earned from businesses through essence fest went to pay for shite like this instead of you know, making the city better to be in.
