What I wonder is could she really not go a few days without getting high? I like to smoke a little myself occasionally but I sure as frick wouldn't try to bring it with me to a foreign country. That was some poor judgment on her part

Imagine if this happened under trump. All of the sports talk shows would be screaming daily about how racist trump is, doesn’t care about blacks, takes order from Putin etc etc. all kinds of protests and demonstrations by Lebron, Rapinhoe.

Russia has a gigantic drug problem.
They have strains of heroin that junkies in other countries won’t touch.
And rampant alcoholism. There’s a reason why they have one of the lowest life expectancies of any country in Europe.
As for Griner, she got busted at the worst possible time. Obviously the US isn’t going to swap her for Viktor Bout. Eventually there will be pressure from team owners to let her go because they aren’t able to sign good US players but until then, she may find herself as a prisoner when in any other period in history, her team’s owner would pay a bribe and just dock it from her paycheck.

If the international situation was the same, Trump wouldn’t be able to get her back. This isn’t ASAP Rocky in Sweden when there’s no tension or LiAngleo Ball in China when there a standard level of tension between countries.
Now if you’re saying that Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine, that’s a whole different conversation.
But if you’re thinking of a scenario where Putin invades Ukraine, the economic sanctions are placed on Russia, the US and many NATO countries are giving weapons to Ukraine, etc. then this so much tougher than the other situations.
I fully agree with the person who said that the mainstream press would be going after him much harder than they have for Biden so far, as he has pretty much gotten a free pass.
