I spent some time in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids last year. First thing I absolutely HAD to do was see a game at Kinnick and participate in The Wave. Die hard Tiger fan through and through but there is no greater tradition in college sports. You can literally see those kids on the top floor wearing those smiles. Just an awesome feel good experience. I wore LSU stuff and the people were great. Baton Rouge will totally be the same for yall. Tits or not.

There are numerous restaurants in Baton Rouge better than Walk On's.

I agree.

However, I have never had a bad meal at Walk Ons. Their menu is a little above your average sports bare fare but they nail every dish IMO, and the beer and atmosphere are great. Plus, it's walkable to the stadium which might come in handy depending on your schedule. I think it's a solid recommendation, but then again I'm not a food snob like some of the ballers on here.

You mention game tickets but do you have hotel rooms booked? Never too early as LSU weekends are usually close to sold out from June - July on. Plus consider that Tenn, should travel well to this game as it's been a while for them to play in Tiger Stadium, so their fans will take up hotel rooms as well. You can drink & walk around, just no glass containers. Any bags brought inside the stadium must be clear....see through...and it is enforced. No umbrellas. With 2 ladies in tow, be sure & bring a roll of toilet paper each, as while there are many bathrooms / portajohns, t.p. runs out early. Depending on game time, arriving by 11:00 a.m. for a nite game is not too early. Again for the 2 ladies, trips to the bathroom inside the stadium, don't wait till you HAVE to go. Expect lines & hot insides. Don't mess with the cops, we usually turn & walk away upon siting. Post game tail gating is almost as good, too.

We are working on hotels right now. Obviously that's going to be a tough one. Any recommendations on what area to stay? Looks like downtown is about 3 mi from the stadium. Is that where we want to stay?

LSU fans love seeing fans from out of state. As others have said, wear your gear and you will be treated like royalty.

The team does not follow the band into Tiger Stadium. The team walks down the hill at least 45 minutes before the band. Give the people acurate information

Downtown hotels....the Hilton is great, the Holiday Inn is new...as long as you have a ride to / from the stadium. Do you have a rental? Uber can be hit or miss. Most hotels on game day weekends require a 2 day stay, be prepared for that from them all. But don't wait if you are already running into issues, it will only get worse. Tenn. fans as noted not helping you.

These peeps run a good shuttle. They list which hotels they service. LACET shuttle

There's another shuttle that goes to downtown hotels Touchdown Express

We're going to the TN game, too. Found an airbnb really close to campus so planning to walk.

I’m a lifetime LSU fan and Alum, but raised our kids in Des Moines. So blessed with experiencing Tiger Stadium (hundreds of times) and Kinnick Stadium. Best Iowa memory was being at the first Penn St - Iowa game with a buddy who was a PS Alum. This was Peen Stu’s inaugural year in the Big 10 in the late 1990s. Only stadium I know where the stadium stairs lead directly onto the field. We entered a gate on the wrong side of the stadium and couldn’t get to our seats after over indulging at a tailgate party. So we walked straight onto the field. No one stopped us. The Penn St players came out of the tunnel gathering at the goal post waiting for the signal as this was the Big 10 televised game of the week on ABC. So we start banging shoulder pads and ran onto the field to the sideline. Again…no one questions us or throws us out of the stadium. So we remained on the sideline the entire 1st half next the the PS cheerleaders and did push ups with the Nittany Lion mascot each time they scored (20 -0 at halftime). Start running with the team back toward their tunnel at halftime and my buddy tries to give ole Joe Paterno a “good half performance” pat on the back. He and his escorting a sheriff both gave us that “who the F are you look”. Decided we better find our seats in the stadium for the 2nd half before we get thrown out of the stadium.

Only in Iowa with the nicest people in the world can you walk onto the playing field and never be questioned.

We did end up with an Airbnb between downtown and the stadium.

Really looking forward to this trip. We will be rooting for you guys to have a great start so both you and Tennessee come in ranked and get a night game.
