The Catholic religion isn't the whole of the church.

There are a ton of Protestants and Orthodox Christians who don't care who the Pope is.

Consumed is too strong, but then you answer your question yourself.

That's sad the Catholic church would canonize someone that made it up. What would have been his motivation to lie? Especially being from like the 1500's?

Saint Malacy didn't make it up. He lived hundreds of years prior to the "discovery" of the prophecies in the late 16th century. Someone forged the prophecy, and falsely attributed it to Malachy.

I wouldn’t be looking for the next Pope to be “Christian”. We are in the end times and you should be looking for the next one to potentially be the false prophet.

That’s probably the most unbiblical lie I’ve ever heard.

So there will be two retired Popes? And one active Pope?
That's three Popes. Hmm...sounds like a sign of the end times.

Catholicism is responsible for sending more people to hell than I care to fathom. The fact that people think the Lord of All is concerned about some organization that puts their faith in tradition, a single man, etc. tells you they don't truly know him.

Christ said, to know the Father is to know the Son. To know the Son is to know the Father.

Aint nothing in there about to know the Pope, your priest, your mother mary.

The whole thing is born on the back of idolatry. Catholicism might be Satan's greatest achievement since the Fall.

If not mistaken I belive Francis was supposed to be the last Pope and the next would be the anti-christ and the world end.

And I belive that’s not true - if I’m not mistaken.

We both belive things without evidence. At least we both posted about it to secure the historical record.

Full disclosure: I'm not Catholic.

He's probably trying to help nudge Tagle ("Chito") into the papacy while he still can. Chito is 64 and could have 15 to 20 years there. It would be a continuation of what Francis has done. A Philipino, they call Chito "Asian" Francis.

As far as American candidates, O'Malley is probably too old at this point (77). Burke is somewhat younger (73), but there is often a drive to put an even younger guy in there just to avoid having to do the selection again so soon. (Francis was elected at age 75).

Of the guys under 70, I like Hungary's Erdo (but he turns 70 this week) and Holland's Ejik. Either of these would represent a return to more traditional values at the top.

There are more papabiles in that 73 to 77 year old range and many would be more of a compromise choice between the factions. Sri Lanka's Ranjith would be a fairly traditional guy (certainly relative to Francis). Along with Tagle, the younger Italian papabiles, Zuppi and Parolin, would be more like Francis. Ghana's Turkson would probably be somewhere in the middle.

then how the hell do you know all this. I find this information so interesting. where did you read all this?

Catholics do not worship idols??? What are you talking about! Apparently something you have been spoon fed by someone that knows very little about Catholic beliefs and practices.

How many times do you have to read “no one knows the hour…” before you will believe it? Like a thief in the night.

The world is not even in as bad of a shape as it has been multiple times before. What makes now so special? That’s a rhetorical question by the way, and any answer you attempt is wrong.

“We are in end times” is a lie and you should repent because you literally can’t know that.

Wishful thinking, that guy has way too much pride to retire in my opinion.

I will believe it when I see the black smoke...
