He’s gonna lead LSU to win most of the games, to national championships hopefully. I look forward to watching him play.

He ain’t starting this year and I’m gone at the end of it.

I think BK is pushing Nuss to the media to keep the kid at LSU. I think this is MB year and BK is using the media to make sure he keeps a solid string of future QBs.

You think Brian Kelly is telling WRs to talk about Nussmeier? Somehow, I doubt that.

Here's my impressions on this:
Miles Brennan, last I saw (2020), has a gun for an arm. Didn't strike me as a guy who could scramble. Haven't seen him in a couple years.

Garrett Nussmeier, last I saw, ALSO has a gun. He could also run pretty well, at least as good as Johnson (who was supposed to be our more mobile QB last year). He looked very raw in the games I watched, but got on the field a good bit.

Brennan has this year, Nussmeier has 4 years left. Brennan I don't think can be coached up any more, the best you can do is shake the rust off. Nussmeier clearly has time to develop more in the new system, the biggest concern you'd have with him is he cuts into Howard's time (if that is a concern).

This is Kelly's first year, I think the general consensus is an 8-4 year would be fine to start with, and you want to improve on that going forward.

The biggest boost you could get from Brennan, I'd say, is that he's more experienced/mature, and that may buy you another win. So maybe 9-3. The drawback would be, you then have to start over in 23, when the expectations will be higher. If you go Nussmeier (or Daniel), that means you go into 23 with a returning starting QB.

And don’t think his opinion on who starts won’t be a huge deal to the coaches.

I don’t think he would pick one if he planned on playing. “ They’re all great look forward to playing with whoever the coaches pick as the starter” Blah Blah Blah.

I'm not getting all the love for Nussmeier after watching him play last season. I know it's limited snaps, but he did not look good in any aspect (completion %, yards per attempt, TD:Int ratio).

He didn’t look great but he was making his first start against an SEC team with a top 35 defense. Some QBs make huge strides from their first to second year. Some guys take a little longer. Maybe Nuss has made his big jump already. I’m not calling it that he will start. But I think the it’s way higher than 5%.

Nussmeier looked like shite when he played in real games and he's a big puss for not playing in last years bowl game. He'll be in the portal at the end of the season after he gets 0 playing time this year.

Amazing. Everything you just said is wrong. I’d break it down for you but I’d be wasting my time. And yours.

He’s got a great arm, he’s relatively quick (not a burner by any means but he’s mobile), and he’s confident as hell.

The downside is.. well.. that he’s confident as hell. He needs to make better decisions. His completion percentage was shite but he was trying to throw it deep a lot. 14 of his 54 attempts (26%) last year were 20+ yards downfield. Those throws accounted for over half of his incompletions. But if you watched them, a lot of those deep attempts were very accurate passes. The receivers just weren’t open.

Compare that to Max Johnson - only 13% of his attempts were 20+ yards downfield and only 24% of his attempts were 10+ yards downfield (compared to 46% for Nuss). This, despite the fact that Max was the more experienced QB.

The point is that you don’t really expect a true freshman to come out and sling it deep like Nussmeier did. The talent and confidence are there, he just needs to take what the defense gives him. That can be coached.

I’m not saying he should start - I’m happy with whatever decision Kelly makes. Just trying to point out why people are hyped up about Nussmeier.

A TCU fan trying to dispense knowledge to an LSU fan. Laughable.

Do you realize Brennan was at LSU before any LSU fan ever heard of Joe Burrow!

This is pretty self explanatory. MB will start for Boutee's final year, and then KB will be excited to watch Nuss in the years after. Otherwise KB could have clearly said "I'm excited about playing with him"

Maybe he's not quite the passer Brennan is at this time...but he certainly has more escapability.

You haven’t watched him enough, he’s very likely the better passer of the two
