How often do you see your family?

I’m talking more than just wife and kids, I’m talking brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Would you say your family is relatively close knit, or is your family overall not very close?
My Dad’s side of the family is large, but is spread out throughout the East Coast. The only time everyone really comes together in recent years is for funerals unfortunately.
Does your family ever have family reunions?

Haven’t seen my brother in over 3 years. I live in San Antonio. He lives in Houston.

We used to see each other pretty often.
Since covid, everyone seems to be kind of doing their own thing. Which is sad.

I haven't seen my big sister in close to 3 years.
I haven't seen my parents since October.
There are illnesses present that have been tough, but for every grief and pain that I (and my little sister) have encountered the blessing is that my younger sister and I are much closer today than we ever have been and I now have a relationship with her daughter and husband as well.
There's always a positive in every negative situation. It took me well over 40 years to see this and understand it. But it's there.

My moms side is very big and we all live in the Orlando area. There’s over 60 of us. We see each other all the time. Holidays birthdays etc. see my mom and brothers all the time, we all try to eat dinner in sundays together. My cousins are like brothers and sisters to me. We’re all very close. We all even worked together at the family business at one point. My dads side total opposite. Hardly see em unless it’s a special event like a wedding or funeral.

SO’s family is a lot larger & we see them about once every 2-3 months

My family is very close - we see each other often - but extended family like cousins, aunts, uncles - we rarely see them - especially on my dad’s side
As for my husbands family - we only really talk to one of his sisters, after his grandparents died we rarely go down the bayou - he was close to them but no one else

Not close to my family at all. Both my younger sisters have died, one 3 years ago after not having seen her in 20+ years and the other just a month ago and I'd not seen her in 15 years or so. Both lived out of state.
My mother lives here in the N.O. area, but I've not seen her in over 30 years and don't plan to. Even when my 2 sisters were alive, they'd only talk to her sparingly and never really had a lot of face time with her. A most despicable woman who lives angry most of the time and I have no time or desire for that negativity in my life.
I've actually spent way more time with my wife's family than my own to be honest and see most of them who live locally at least 4-5 times a year, if not more.

We are aren't very close.. The last time I have seen:
My oldest brother was a little bit after Katrina and haven't spoken to him since.
A sister around Thanksgiving last year..I speak to her on the regular
A sister in 2012 at one my brothers funeral. Don't speak.. way too much trouble
A brother about a year ago. He's full of it.. Way too jealous and insecure
A brother in January.. speak to him on the regular
A brother that passed away.. I would have talked to him on a weekly basis.

Bros and parents, 1-4X per year. None of us live in the same state. My brothers are both married to Karen types who have become insufferable because they hate family time because everything is political.

Well, I am the sole survivor in my generation. All the kids & grandchildren are in TX. The exes are in in VA, FL & TX. Yes, still best of friends with all.
I try to see the kids about once a quarter, but that doesn’t always work. I manage an office for my son’s business in NOLA, so we talk a few times a week. I make sure we get together for T-Day no matter what.
Those of you with siblings may not see them a lot & not really miss them, but from an older perspective, you will when they are gone. Take every opportunity, make opportunities happen to get together. Good memories far overshadow regrets.

We are not very close. My dad's side of the family had a lot of issues, but they are close and had family reunions my entire life growing up.
My dad died and, aside from my close 1st cousin, I'm not sure I'll ever see anyone on his side of the family ever again.
I see my mom and sister once every year.
I don't see anyone else ever.
I like it, I think. As I get older the idea of having a family of my own gets appealing, but I have a lot of shite to get together before then.
FIL always asks us when we are gonna have a kid. My response is usually "Can we get a house first?" I don't want to raise a kid in a rental.
