I agree the world is full of stupid people. I would prolly do the same in that instance. However it is a stupid thing to do. Are there multiple shooters? Are there explosives? etc.... Police patrolmen are not trained to rush into a live fire situation. They are trained to set up and contain the situation until a higher authority makes a decision. Cops are not superhuman crime fighters. Most of them have a C minus HS education level. I just think that the blame does not fall to them. They prolly have families. Scared of lawsuits and constantly worrying about defunding. Unless it was my kids school...I wouldnt run in blindly either.

It’s not about being stupid. It’s about sitting outside of a building and not knowing if that next gunshot is for your child. I couldn’t live with myself if I sat outside and that next shot was for my daughter or son. Believe it or not, there are things worst than dying and living with that guilt is one. Is it tactically smart? No but it’s children that need you so you go.

This doesn't make sense. So if the higher authority decides to rush in a live fire situation then it's okay even though as you say the cops aren't trained for that?

Anyone who sat outside of a school, while a shooter was inside popping off rounds, is a pussy. You can take your explosives and multiple shooters and shove them up your arse.

and yet they frequently take in on themselves to pump unarmed suspects full of lead at the slightest provocation, then claim they feared for their personal safety

That used to be the case, but it isn't anymore. If there's an active shooter, we're supposed to make entry, hunt that person down, and kill them. We don't ask permission from a supervisor. We simply tell dispatch that we're making entry and go.

Are there multiple shooters?
That question was answered before cops even arrived on the scene. Single shooter. They even had his name. It would have been immediately verified by witnesses at the location, including cops who had exchanged fire with the murderer.

but one officer took it upon himself to bravely encounter and do what he could to end the violence.

how many other lives did he possibly save?
