UPDATE: The scene is secure and safe, and there are no injuries to report at this time. Detectives are still on scene conducting interviews following a reported shooting at the facility. Please stay clear of the area so detectives can do their work. Thank you for your cooperation.

-----
We currently have a heavy law enforcement presence in the area of coquille sports complex as our deputies work an incident at that location. Please avoid the area. We will update when we have cleared the scene.

Two in custody.

Looks like the baws I saw got detained.

quote:

Two people were detained for questioning after gunshots were fired Tuesday evening at the Coquille Sports Complex west of Covington, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were dispatched just before 6 p.m. to the park, near the intersection of Louisiana 1085 and Turnpike Road, to investigate reports of gunshots. The park butts up against Archbishop Hannan High School.

Detectives say they identified a vehicle of interest, found it at a nearby gasoline station and detained two individuals.

The Sheriff's Office said there was a "heavy law enforcement presence" near the sports complex. The agency encouraged the public to avoid the area.

Holly Hutches Tujague, signing as "Coquille Staff," wrote in a Facebook post there was "an incident" during open gym, but she didn't say what happened or where.

"We are currently working with law enforcement to ensure the safety of everyone in the park," Tujague wrote.

There were no known gunshot victims or injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.

The white kid was driving a cheesy black car and the black kid was driving a white car, maybe a Toyota Camry. The white kid had the build of a guard, the black kid was built more like a forward - maybe 6'2. White kid was tiny. Maybe 5'9.

It is right across the street from the Madisonville zip code of 70447. It's basically the same thing. It is by far more Madisonville than Covington.

. Every bit of this is wrong.

It’s address is literally 13505 LA-1085, Covington, LA 70433

Madisonville has a seedy underbelly and there are plenty of scoundrels & makers in Covington. It definitely sounds crazy at first but it’s also not completely shocking.

In the past you would be correct, now...not so much.

There’s a contingent of Covington that is willing to shoot

This is true

they’ve been up there for a long time and they all have one of about five last names

This is true as well

You can call it what you want but it has a Covington address and none of the real Madisonville people consider that Madisonville. It is much closer to Covington

What did I post that was incorrect? Reread what I said. I know it is in a different zip code. That does not make what I said incorrect.

Stay in pontchatoula. Coquille is 4.9 miles from the center of Madisonville and 6.2 miles from the center of Covington.

Madisonville Sports started at Pine St in Madisonville, near the Tchefuncte River.

They outgrew this park in the early 2000’s and built on Hwy 1085 in Covington (1 mile north of the Madisonville border) but kept the original moniker of Madisonville Sports.

I agree that most people would guess it is in Madisonville, but the fact that the address is in Covington doesn’t leave much for debate.

Guarantee you that this was Hammond trash. Kevin Davis needs to institute those tolls immediately on 1-12 and Hwy 22. We need border guards asap.
