Ric Flair, one of the most well-known and revered professional wrestlers in history, will perform in one last match July 31, sources told ESPN on Monday. Flair, 73, will step into the ring at the Nashville Fairgrounds on an independent card that will stream live on FITE TV.

Flair's opponent for July 31 remains unclear. It's also unknown whether it will be a singles or tag team match.

quote:

The card on which Flair will perform July 31 will begin at 6:05 p.m., an homage to weekend start times of Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW from the 1970s to the 1990s. Tickets and the pay-per-view stream will go on sale May 27 at noon.

Jay Lethal, Nick Aldis are my two best guesses but I’m holding out hope that Sting is involved.

So people are going to pay pay-per-view prices to watch a 73 year old guy roll around and strut in his underwear?

I love Ric, but come on. This is a bit ridiculous.

There tends to be two kinds of wrestlers…

Those who retire and never come back and those who can’t ever leave completely.

Ric’s clearly in the latter category along with the likes of Terry Funk, Lawler, Foley, etc, who kept coming back until they could no longer get medical clearance to do so.

That much worse than watching Shawn Michaels strut around to Sexy Boy in his old outfit while his hairline is about a half mile back from where it used to be?

I saw a recent video of him working out in a ring. He moved like an old man. He should let this go.
