Wife has to catch a flight very early Sunday morning and will be driving in late from Tupelo. She is gonna be alone so I was hoping y'all would let me know of a safe place she could stay. Sorry, I don't know a lot about Bham. TIA.

Downtown isn’t far away. I always stay at the Redmont.

There’s really nothing right by the airport, but downtown is close by and an easy drive to the airport.

Hilton Garden Inn at Liberty Park

20 mins to the airport from here (all interstate). Very safe area with a couple of decent places to eat close by. I’ve never stayed there personally, but I can see it from my house.

The airport area is not safe. Easiest and closest is somewhere downtown or UAB. About a 10-15 minute drive.

Absolutely! I get a little nervous just stopping at the red lights, driving into the airport. No way I'd stay at one of the airport hotels.

Yeah, wasn't gonna let her stay by the airport, but I didn't know how safe downtown would be at night for my wife.
Appreciate everyone's info

Homewood has a couple of new hotels as well. Very safe area close to downtown.

To feel safest, she could stay out in the burbs. Traffic early Sunday morning will be non existent and TSA is a breeze in Bham.

If she’s coming from Tupelo, she’ll be coming in on I-22. Just north of the I-22/I-65 interchange is Gardendale/Fultondale. There’s a Fairfield Inn and HI Express there. Very safe area, and about 10-15 minutes to airport. Probably a lot cheaper than the downtown hotels as well.

First like said before. Do not stay anywhere near the airport.

280 has a lot of nice and safe options but it’s about a 15-20 minute drive to the airport

Same can be said about the 150 area in Hoover.

The Hilton Garden inn at Liberty Park is nice as long as the swinger party isn’t there.

Downtown is also a good option but can be a little sketchy at times.

Bham itself is still a dumb, and the area near the airport is even worse.

There’s no reason not to stay out in a suburb like Vestavia.

Do not let your wife stay close to the airport. It is dangerous.

The advice above is good. She could also stay in downtown Homewood and be less than 15 mins and safe to walk around or grab dinner. It’s a little bit out of her (10 mins south or Bham or so) but not bad.

This is also good advice if she is just looking for a place to sleep and maybe some fast food.

The people that are saying Liberty Park are adding at least 30 mins to her trip since it is significantly south of town.

Do not let her stay at the Holiday Inn or Ramada next to the airport. Like the walking dead after dark.

I'd suggest the Aloft in Homewood or Hamption Inn in Mountain View.

The hotels by the airport are extremely crusty and downtown folds up after 10pm. Neither is inviting. Ten minutes over the hill to the south is a very clean and nice area and she will have access to restaurants, Walgreens, etc... well past dark.

This isn’t true at all on a Saturday night.

But OP said she had an early morning flight out on Sunday so I doubt she’s looking to stay somewhere with a vibrant nightlife after 10.

Aloft in Homewood is a good call. Very quick access to the Highway makes the drive to the airport easy and fast. Same goes for the Hampton Inn in Mountain Brook (I assume that’s what you meant).

Bro she doesn’t want to go clubbin, but might need a toothbrush or something from CVS. Not a good scene downtown at 1030pm. Homewood, no problem.
