Corn ethanol lobby spends about 25 million a year in campaign contributions. It’s a government welfare program and that’s all.

Your President hopes we are all dumb enough, not to realize that.

They are panicking. They know gas prices are going to huge highs this summer. E85 buys them a little bit of time on our cost at the pump. This is just a stop-gap before approval rating hit bedrock and the rock-busting explosives come out. If a Democrat is saying things are good, they are either retarded or lying. Maybe both.

Ethanol is only useful for corn farmers, ethanol producers, and politicians who represent corn farmers and ethanol producers.

We make a shite ton of money on biofuel consulting, probably our biggest moneymaker. Biodiesel, specifically renewable diesel, is much hotter than ethanol, ethanol is old news.

I’m personally not a believer in biofuels but the way government policy is evolving, you can’t be in energy or agriculture without biofuel exposure.

But for those who want the increased power and don't care about reduced gas mileage it is a good product for them.

So, an immeasurably small percentage of drivers.

Waaay back in the late 1980's, people started talking about this new-fangled "global warming" thing. Now those same people forgot that just a few years earlier they were all in a tizzy and worried over "global cooling". The cooling never happened so they changed their fear to "global warming". They made them some dire predictions about oceans drying up and polar bears dying because they couldn't swim, but then none of that happened either.

So then they changed their fear again, this time they called it "anthropomorphic climate change" so that way if it became hot or cold they could blame it on Man.

It was at this time that Al Gore put out the movie "An Inconvenient Truth," and climate fear-mongers the world over hailed it as if its claims were written on stone tablets and Al was Moses bringing them down from Mount Sinai. As part of this science-ism, Al and his cohorts pushed all sorts of schemes (see: carbon credits) like mandating ethanol into gasoline.

Their science-ism told them that ethanol was better for engines, mileage and the environment. People skeptical of the "climate change" science-ism began doing tests and putting out proof that those claims were bogus, but the media (who loves good fear) down-played it. The President (GW Bush) and enough of Congress at the time pushed through an ethanol mandate in order to combat shitty science.

Years later, even Al Gore would come out and say the science behind ethanol was bad. Government though... they hate not spending money and this program saved a bunch of farms, so they've kept it on the books.

Full disclosure: My family has farmed for generations and we farm the shite out of corn. Even with that personal investment in it, I've never been a fan of the legislation (due to the faulty science behind it) and wish they would repeal it. (see also: forcing businesses to not allow smoking)

Just wondering, what is the average amount of diesel and gas burned to produce a gallon of ethanol? Any idea?

As a person with high-end builds, I gotta say, I drive a lot more than a 1/4 mile at a time. Race fuel was easily accessible BEFORE all of this shite. Driving back and forth to work, errands, trips to the grocery store, are costing way more than cheap "street" race fuel.

I buy e85, we should be asking who buys the mid grade fuel, but then again, I don't care what people do.

I had a truck that was capable of using e85. The mileage was lower though, so it didn’t seem to be worth it in terms of savings.

Nobody cares what color or shiny the handle is you dolt. They’re only looking at price/gallon. The only masses pushing this and liking it or the tree hugging retards who think the citizens of a certain country can alter the climate with their personal behavior. And the farmers who are getting subsidized.
