When it costs the same as regular and yields significantly worse mileage?

All of ethanol is a scam. For a gasoline additive at least.

Subsidize the agricultural sector under the guise of environmentalism.

farmers need to be subsidized for their excess corn crops.

Probably makes the gas companies more profit.

To the masses: “Pick this shiny yellow handle!”

Us:

I mean, idk what the point is, but they sure as shite don’t care about my engine performance.

Yeah the production of ethanol is more harmful to the environment than if we just used 100% gasoline but once an industry gets a taste of the government cheese it's usually not going to be taken away.

Every time you type something it just shows how big a dumb frick you are. Nobody is putting e85 in household use small engines.

For those with brains. E85 is able to produce MORE power with less fuel. True it is less fuel efficient but those using it don't care, they run e85 tunes in their cars for the 20% +/- bump in horsepower.

Now if you are talking about mandating e85 that is dumb. But for those who want the increased power and don't care about reduced gas mileage it is a good product for them.

If you were actually talking about the "talk" of moving to E15, yeah that is dumb to. Manufactures have used alcohols for a very long time to increase the octane of our gas, but to mandate a specific one because it came from corn is dumb and to mandate a certain percentage is dumb, they should be able to formulate the gas with the least amount of alcohol needed.

Less energy density than gasoline, cost more to produce than a barrel of oil, increases price of agricultural feed corn, harmful to small and marine outboard engines, harmful to large scale farm land soil management, does nothing for "green" energy goals, a massive federal subsidy any industry would love to have.

All thanks to one senator who has protected the corporate ethanol industry and screwed small family farms in the midwest for years.

Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

It would laughable if it wasn't such a scam.

Anyone who puts e85 in a regular engine deserves what they get.

Indeed. E85 has an octane rating slightly over 100. Turbo cars like the Nissan GT-R really like it.

Agricultural subsidies. Gotta keep the ethanol in our cars and the corn syrup fattening us up.

Any boosted engine loves it. They love all alcohols, I've run methanol injection on multiple turbo engines.
