The main ingredient in most cat and dog food is corn which is cheap and unnatural food for a carnivore. If you live in the country and have freezer space you can easily find someone with an unwanted donkey or Shetland pony you can butcher and have a large supply of good healthy food for your animal....

During our last outage several people I know had their NG supply go down. No gas = no generator. I believe the Generac is easy to swap back and forth from propane to NG. NG gives less KW than propane but is much cheaper. If it were me I would keep a couple hundred gallons of propane on hand for NG s...

Diesel machines are the most expensive and fuel can go bad, so I would stay away from diesel unless you can keep a large amount on hand and keep freshening it with new deliveries such as a farmer or trucker would do. Also keep spare fuel filters and school yourself on changing them without air locki...

Also I would do an oil change at 100 hours. That is about the interval you change car oil. 100 hours X 50mph = 5000 miles and that air cooled generator is running hotter than a car and getting the guts run out of it with no down time in an extended outage.
