The "leave everyone alone and let them do what they want," "low tax" liberals are considered far right extremists today.

ETA: Us traditional conservatives who have been the same all along? Basically terrorists.

Reading the Twitter comments doesn’t bring much hope for our country’s future. Most fully believe the right has lurched rightward Bc Trump or something, it’s never explained. It’s never even been explained how Trump is far right but whatever. Oh and the prog commenters all have a sweet new graph, I guess from Pew, that they all post in lockstep that somehow shows the right has moved more than the left.

They’re living in an alternate reality. It’s incredible how people can live side by side but not the same reality.

Predictably most commenters are most concerned about trannies and the alphabet people. Still fighting that non existent oppression.

Barrack Obama ran in 2008 with a “committed” position on marriage that would get him cancelled today.

Obama was somewhat moderate and in today's political climate the far left would label him an alt right bigot if they held him to the same standards as everyone else.

Obama’s rhetoric was somewhat moderate. His decisions/actions were not.

Yep. On a two-dimensional scale, I don't think I've ever tested right-of-center. "Laissez les bon temps rouler." Yet, to authoritarian leftists, I am the enemy.

This is just Elon’s way of saying I’m not really conservative, but I appear that way since the scale got skewed due the left going batshit crazy.

Only the goal posts have moved...

He never went anywhere and only the left has changed by moving... cough cough... too far left...

It’s very accurate yet the left will claim it’s the right who pulled the middle to the right.

Can anyone in class name 2 things conservative have moved as a whole farther right on? Things that are in response to the lefts social battles don’t count.

Not only that, but every leftist, no matter how radical, believes themselves to be just barely left of center. They don't see their own insanity.

I think 2008 is a good starting point for the hard left asserting its dominance in the dem party. We got Obama with his fundamental changing of the country.

Agreed.

Undo BARAQ and you have solved most of Americas problems.

The weaponization of US government, just about all US government, has perpetrated the massive damage that you see.

I believe there needs to be a special committee assembled for just that purpose.

It MUST be done one way or the other

That's not what happened. Ideologically the left has had much less drift, and the right is very very far right compared to 20-30 years ago.

The new Ministry of Truth is going to put you in a camp for that whopper.

The right has moved to the left in the last 30 years. Most opposed gay marriage and weed. I know I did.

Now I could care less if someone is gay, but I dont want to see the making out in public (or heterosexual people either). Get a room for that. Whatever 2 consenting adults want to do is up to them.

And regarding weed I considered it a "gateway" drug but now I take the position that if someone wants to do it that should be up to them, as long as it doesnt hurt someone else. If someone drives stoned and has an accident or neglects their children the punishment should be severe.

Those positions are certainly not more conservative than my positions 20-30 years ago. And I am not alone with those changes.
