This one’s in Banff, but there are others in North America and Europe.. ive never seen one in person, but it seems like a cool idea to keep wildlife from turning into roadkill .

Sorry if a stupid question- but does anyone know how all the animals from miles around know to use the crossing ? If there arent barriers along the highway I mean, making the crossing the only option .

I could see a bunch of coonasses there with corn feeders waiting

I’ve seen some moose on the one outside of park city in Utah, they are pretty cool

We have a good few in Florida. Ours are mostly tunnels under the highway. The animals figure out where they are and use them, apparently it’s a pretty successful idea

Signage all along the road with arrows.

There are some animal crossings in South Florida on Alligator Alley between Naples and Ft Lauderdale. But those go under the road. There are some YouTube videos of panthers and bears using them.

I'm sure the ones that poke their head out 1/4 mile or so down the road quickly realize their mistake and head back in to cross at the bridge.

Tennessee and North Carolina are coming together to do this around the gorge area where several bears elk deer and other animals get hit.

The ones I’ve seen in Banff all had fences along the highway

There’s one just finished on Memorial in the middle of Houston

Do they know that if they miss it, they can just take the loop?

One of the properties I hunt has a 4 lane highway running through it. There's a small canal with an overpass. The deer know to cross under the road when it ain't the rut.

If I’m a mountain lion I know where I’m gonna hang out.

There are fences along the roads that force the wildlife to use the crossings. They have them in Nevada and Idaho also. I seent it.

BR commuters jealous of bridges being built for animals.

I drive I-85 between Auburn and Atlanta a lot, and have ever since they completed the interstate through there. When it was first constructed, you really had to be careful in certain spots because of all the deer. They'd even be grazing in the median some times and it was very common to see a dead on on the side of the road.
Less so now. I haven't seen one in the median in ages. I do still see them grazing on the side of the road, but they seem to have learned the dangers of crossing the interstate. Animals are very adaptable.
