The puppeted media should all have their ducks in a row and be on the same page no later than tomorrow's morning news cycle
~Disney's $2 billion Reedy Creek debt will be transferred to residents of Orange and Osceola counties amounting to a $2,200 tax hike per family. (They're already starting to push this one across twitter).
~Inevitably when Disney finds a leftist judge to issue an injunction..."Ron DeSantis was dealt a blow in court today a judge struck down the Florida legislatures Revocation of a special district. The judge says DeSantis specifically targeted Disney in a violation of the company's 1st amendment rights."

Waiting for antifa to come out in full support of Disney. Good fun.

From what I heard the media wasn’t going to give Desantis a hard time like that, as they did with Trump……a supposed reason to favor Desantis over Trump. That was always a pipe dream.

On paper, the Florida state government giving a special status to a billion dollar company (Disney), is everything liberals supposedly hate. Yet, somehow they view Desantis as a fascist monster for repealing a law which gave a corporation the power to self-govern a large part of Florida. These loons literally believe everything that CNN tells them. They are sheep.

Republicans would probably fall for this because they don't have the fight left in them. Too soft around the edges now. The Republican party I used to know would kick the living shite out of these Nancy boys.

quote:Ive seen this put forth as a possible outcome in a few threads. How can Desantis/the legislature not specifically target Disney? Didn’t they specifically target Disney when they granted the RCID? Is there some provision in the law that specifies the conditions under which the Florida legislature can dissolve the district? Seems to me the existence of the RCID is at the discretion of the people of the state of Florida through their duly elected representatives. I can’t imagine the legal argument against that but I’m sure we will hear some grade A frickery from the left nonetheless.

The Dems will threaten a tit-for-tat revenge plan. The Leftists will threaten to do the same to a powerful entertainment and media company that has pledged to make the promotion of a Conservative message a priority.
Good luck with that.

It's racist!
I can't believe at a time when equity is being sought after by the entire country Florida is acting like this.

The legislature of Florida can not do away with the district on their own anyway.
Florida statute 189.072 section 2:
a) In order for the Legislature to dissolve an active independent special district created and operating pursuant to a special act, the special act dissolving the active independent special district must be approved by a majority of the resident electors of the district or, for districts in which a majority of governing body members are elected by landowners, a majority of the landowners voting in the same manner by which the independent special district’s governing body is elected. If a local general-purpose government passes an ordinance or resolution in support of the dissolution, the local general-purpose government must pay any expenses associated with the referendum required under this paragraph. LINK
In other words, the 100 residents of the Reedy Creek district will have to vote to dissolve the district. All 100 are handpicked Disney employees given the special privilege of living there.
Whether DeSantis signs the bill or not, it's worth about a much as the paper is written on.

Not so fast. From the text of Senate Bill 4C:
Notwithstanding s. 189.072(2), any independent special district established by a special act prior to the date of ratification of the Florida Constitution on November 5, 1968, and which was not reestablished, re-ratified, or otherwise reconstituted by a special act or general law after November 5, 1968, is dissolved effective June 1, 2023. An independent special district affected by this subsection may be reestablished on or after June 1, 2023, pursuant to the requirements and limitations of this chapter.
So the proposed bill would state that notwithstanding the section you quoted, yes they can do away with it. The Legislature writes the laws and can amend them as they wish.

Federal Judge issued injunction prohibiting DeSantis from acting as Governor pending a review of his actions. This review will include a review of his 2018 election as Governor.
