We have received information that the fire is out. Teams are near the “hot zone” now attempting to determine if the leak has been contained.
Olin / Dow personnel have been doing air monitoring near the site and are not picking up any readings.
The “Shelter-In-Place” is still current at this time out of an abundance of caution.

9:45 Update. Statement from Olin Corporation:
A chlorine release has occurred within Olin‘s facility in Plaquemine. Site emergency response was immediately engaged and we are working to stop the release. Employees at the facility took immediate safety precautions while the team began working to address the situation. A shelter in place has been implemented and local roads have been temporarily closed. We will provide additional information as soon as it is available

PLAQUEMINE - The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office is working to secure roads near the Dow plant in Plaquemine to contain a chlorine spill.

Emergency preparedness director Clint Moore said people in Plaquemine should shelter in place, close windows and doors until authorities say otherwise.

Deputies did not have any information about how big the spill was or how long it will take to contain.

Roads will be closed, so avoid the area if possible.

Good thing it didn’t happen during the day.. there’s a lot of project work happening at that site right now.

Also, I wonder how long it takes Dow to issue a press release blaming Olin (who currently owns the chlorine assets at the site).
