And I think that will come with time. The problem (although a good one) was how well McMahon closed out that 2022 class with what little time he had I think got the expectations up for most fans and probably rightfully so.

The issue though is it's still his first year in a major conference, we're still waiting on how hard the book is going to be thrown down on the program. They want to see this team in action now before buying in after that new coach shine has worn off a little now

I've been reading online in a few places that the no. 2 player in the nation in 24 Ian Jackson is trending to LSU. He plays at the power Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx.

He's officially visiting us in the next week or two, and supposedly the Morant connection with McMahon is big factor in his recruitment. Plus, we are LSU, and that's a top brand nationwide.

It might be one to keep an eye on though. After starting his career at Washington hot, Mike Hopkins hasn't been very good the last 3 seasons with a combined record of 37-53 (though they were a bit better last season). Washington is going to be picked to finish in the back half of the conference this season. If that happens, you have to wonder if the school will look to make a move after 4 straight years of mediocre to bad results.

I happened to know Aleeva was the reason that Tony Bennet was not hired. Coach Bennet's wife has relatives in LA & he has friends on tne hiring committee & what you doubt means nothing.

What does this have to do with LSU basketball recruiting in 2022/2023? You have 12 posts...75% bitching about how LSU didn't hire Tony Bennett. Yes, given his success at Virginia Bennett likely would have been a great hire. But all of this occurred FOURTEEN YEARS AGO. Bennett is not the HC at LSU nor does it appear he ever will be. So why is any of this relevant? Particularly in a thread about LSU recruiting

And, just because Bennett has been successful at UVA doesn't mean he would have had the same success at LSU. Maybe, he would have even more success at LSU. Who knows? No one knows because an alternate reality is unknowable.

Let's move on from any "coulda, woulda, shoulda's."

McMahon is our coach now. Let's support him and our LSU basketball team!

Saw this video about Jalen Reed, the 6'10" PF coming in this year. See at about the 4:35 mark. He seems to have great ball skills for a guy 6'10". Interested in others' thoughts but he looks like someone who could help us as a Freshman.

Well, you never really get a full team of scholarships to offer all at once like that. But yeah, he totally spoiled us. The freshmen alone were a quality class, but of course he brought back some pieces and the transfers, especially from his school, were great.

From the beginning I thought the NCAA was coming down hard as heck, but I am more hopeful now. I still think you can recruit promising the lure of an SEC TV schedule and downplay the importance of the NCAA Tourney when it comes to draft stock. The SEC Tourney is basically useless in that category.

2 of the previous teams involved in this "scandal" with the FBI and recruiting have been adjudicated, and neither received a postseason ban. I don't expect anything different with us, and we have a lot more juice in regards to the ncaa's survival and/or downfall than Memphis or NC st do.

To be clear, those 2 team's cases were decided by that new panel the NCAA set up. Oklahoma st got hammered dealing with the NCAA itself. We have the panel.

Bad news this morning, trending to Colorado. Honestly sucks, this staff needs a big win. Only have secured Chest from LA since getting here for 2023 and beyond. Do not like seeing us lose 5* guys to Colorado, just something you wouldnt have seen under Wade.

Mike Williams is someone to watch after his visit this past weekend. Per on3, LSU has done a good job pitching early playing time.

Wade is gone and not coming back.

We should judge this coach and staff on its own merits and game results.

Meh. College basketball recruiting is weird. Just think back a few years to when we got Ben Simmons. I'm sure other programs had the same sentiment, but in CBB one relationship can change everything, especially for a kid who thinks he'll be there only for 6 months

It looks like he was previously recruited by Wade and re-offered by McMahon in August.

LSU is also in on guard - AJ Johnson out of Los Angeles. He's a top 15 player. Texas is considered the leader at the moment, but he talked about his visit to LSU being one of his favorites. He says he won't sign until the spring signing date, so there is still time to work.
